Has anyone ever replaced / removed the passenger side air bag cover without disrupting the air bag?
can it be done?

Before you disconnect the wires to the airbag, make sure you are grounded to the VX. When the yellow connectors to the airbag are disconnected, a small piece of metal inside the connector (called a "Shorting Bar") drops across the two wires, bridging the wires together. This prevents the airbag fron discharging. No battery disconnect is nessessary as long as the shorting bar drops into place.

I have removed many airbags from steering wheels, dashes, side bags, etc., without a problem.

By the way, an airbag can be discharged with the power from a small 9 volt battery.

Take your time, be careful and good luck.

WE want to change out just the cover of the pass airbag. Does the cover pry off-is it attached to the bag or what. I have a dead VX with a perfect cover and want to change it out . Any further tips? Since I am moving I cannot locate my VX CD so I am kind of in the dark here. Thanks for any help
