I dont know if this is nationwide, but I decided to change my own oil this go-round mainly because its so easy on the vx. Anyway I was at Walmart getting the oil and it was marked at $22.97 and rang up at 22.97 - 3.69 making the total for the 5 quart bottle $19.28. Just thought I'd let ya know if its oil changing time for any of you do-it-yourselfers.

Whats the best oil for VX?
And would it make difference if i put K&N oil filter instead of regular?

Most peeps on here like Mobil1 syn. Seems like 5-30 or 10-30 seems the most popular. As for oil filter I have just noticed most seem to not like Fram. Alot of info can be found via a quick search.

Because I have 72K on mine, I am using the 10-30 Mobil 1, and a Mobil 1 oil filter.
Thanks for the heads-up on the price at WalMart. Hopefully it will still be on sale when I return from my current business trip.

well, here in indiana, it is the same price of 22.07, actually, it just went up a dollar from 21.97. i have a question though, did you have a cupon to get the 3.69 discount??? i just changed my oil back to 10-30, but if theres a cupon floating around, will make my next change a little cheaper!!! i went back to 10-30 because it seemed not to use as much as it did with the 5-30, maybe its just me....oh,i also use the mobil 1 filter, NOT available at walmart. so in closing, where did you get the 3.69 discount???

I pick up my Mobil1 at Walmart whenever it goes on sale, which recently has been fairly often. It's usually about $19 and some change ($19.28 sounds right) plus tax.

Yup, that's where I get my jugs too. I use a Mobile-1 oil filter also. About the air filter though, I have been using Fram because thats all I can find for the VX. Aside from you modded guys, who has a stock airbox and what brand air filter do you prefer?

oh my dirty mind.... :p
ive got my airbox (minus the elbow.. but with an aluminum mesh 'bubble' in its place to keep leaves and crap out) ive got the drop in filter from tone (greeen perfomance) im very happy with it, gotta clean/recharge it soon, so gotta order the kit for $12.. ive heard good things about K&N drop ins but have no experience with them

Yup, that's where I get my jugs too.Duhhh, huh-huh he said jugs.
I've got the Calmini cone filter kit, with an upgraded filter. When I installed it, there was a noticable difference in "perceived" power (I haven't had it on a dyno). If you're going to upgrade, I believe the cone style filters provide a lot more air flow than the stock setup, although it's debatable whether the cooler air from the wheel well is more effective. The mouting kits are cheap, and probably still available on e-bay. It would go really well with one of those green filters from Tone.
No experience with stock replacement solutions here, sorry.
