I know it is not an exact science, but when do you think it is safe to check/replace the VX brakes? MY VX is close to the the 60K miles mark, and as far as I know (I purchased it with 53K miles on it), the original brake pads have not been replaced.

Also, please let me know if you would replace with the same manufacturer's pads or go with something else. Recommendations?

Mileage isn't that good of an indicator, as stop & go/ city driving will wear brakes faster than hiway driving. Take a wheel off the front & rear to check the pads for thickness.
I like the stock pads & will be using them when the time comes, they work well, seem to last a long time & don't cause any dust buildup that I've seen.

Yeah, I know I am going to need new pads soon. Both my mechanic and the guys who put my new wheels on said I should do it soon.

At the end of the month, I am ordering a set of stock pads and rotors from St. Charles. I especially need to do this before Moab!
