OK, the 00 green vx I got for my birthday came from up north. The interior is in great shape except for a wear hole near the throttle. I have to assume this was from the previous owner's hiking boot rubbing against it. I've already been to an upholstery shop and have options on how to fix it before it gets too big. Question I'm throwing out is this.
Is the front carpet (from middle of the front seats forward) all one piece or are there two pieces, one on either side of the center console? I'm asking as they will need to take that carpet out to sew a protection rubber piece (kind of like a dead pedal) over the hole. If it's just one piece where the driver's footwell is, I will likely just replace it. Anyone deal with carpet issues before?

nuts, oh well, thanks for answering that, I may go ahead and call Merlin anyway to find out how much the front carpet is and just give myself another X-Mas present

What's weird is that I have that same hole and I wear dressier shoes when I drive. Mine doesn't bother me enough to replace the whole of the front carpet, though.

yeah i keep a set of sneakers in my vx because when i wear my boots or dress shoes my foot sometimes gets stuck between the brake (new pedal) and the carpet under the console

I guess for me, it's more a case of not wanting the hole to expand and get larger as you never know for how long parts will be available for such a limited seller like the VX,
besides, I'm anal about my cars :(
