Any play by play how too on front and rear diff fluid change? Wondering if draining is sufficiant or will anything else need done to ensure all old fluid removed.

I Did Mine In The Hot Summer Month's And I Think It All Came Out Cause I Let Them Drain For Like 30 Min.plus I Drove It About Ten Miles Befor I Drained Just To Help Heat The Fluid Up For Good Drainage.not Too Difficult Of A Job But If Not Carefull It Could Get Messy.make Sure You Put A Tube Of Lsd In The Rear Diff Befor Filling It Up With The Reg.oil.

The front drain is the lowest bolt holding the third member into the pumpkin...handy information if you're crawling around under there looking for how to drain it.
Mine had enough gorp built up in the front diff. that it required some prodding with a coat hanger to get it to drain.

Will it drain totally or does it need flushed as tranny does?

also, read somewhere that this can get tricky when refilling these parts.
is that so?

any tips on doing it effectively?

thanks.

Naaa, just drive it on the freeway for 10-20 mins. to warm up the fluid & drain it for 15-20 mins. then replace the plug & fill-er-up.

Re-filling isn't too hard...use a pump that screws on to the oil bottle (available @ most auto parts stores), or transfer the fluid into a squeeze bottle w/ a pointed end & squeeze it into the hole that way.

Fill to the bottom of the fill hole & replace the fill plug...your done, repeat on other axle...you're really done.

Yep, fill until a little comes back out & put the plug back in when it quits.

Don't overfill. ;)

Yeah my front diff had the goop in the drain plug too like ldub's and i had to do the pokey thing with the hanger. At first i put the bolt back in thinking that i had the wrong one out.then decided that that was it and it must be plugged. :p
