Three sets of rims since I bought the VX in September, but I cant seem to agree to one. I think I just like the idea of switching the look of the ride almost monthly.
I am very intrested in white powder coating a set of used rims. But I do not know much about that. I guess you can go to any or most paint/body shops and get this done for how much$?
Here are the rims I would like to powder coat.

I kinda dig this look minus the decals and add some white screws.

Well if you go with white, you might as well go ahead and get ceramic pads at the same time or brake dust will drive you crazy.

I already do! I dont have any troubles with brake dust.

Those are Borbets (no longer made) shown on the Ironman. Body shops don't do powder coating, but there is a place in Shelbyville, KY called IPC that could do it. I can check into it if you want, we send a lot of things there for powder coating.

Back when I was "wheel-hunting" I came across these and thought they would look good on an IronMan VX:
JDM JAOS Victron Wheel (Victron Excel II Pro 16X8 Offset 0) "White"
Unfortunately...they are pricey...$478.72 per wheel plus shipping ($23) at this site...maybe find them cheaper somewhere else?

I also remember RON buying these wheels from PEP BOYS and having them powder coated black:
Sorry. Tough to type info with one hand and a toddler in the other. Anyway, the wheels I purchased used on e-bay for around $300 for the set. They were originally in metallic silver in color. Three of the four wheels were in decent shape cosmetically except for one. I would've stayed with the silver except that one wheel was too obvious that I wanted to get all to the same level. So, I had them powdercoated in black since I jsut wanted to offroad in them. They turned out better than expected after the powdercoating.
I tracked down the manufacture and it turns out to be a wheel that Pep Boys sells. Here's the link:
http://www.pepboys.com/tires_wheels/wheels/index.html
Don't know what they're selling for but they're in the same metallic silver as mentioned and the size I have are the 16x8.
The tires I purchased from tire rack were the Bridgestone Revos (265/70/16). Very nice on and offroad. Very quiet for an offroad/all weather tire and seems to hold its traction through wet and dry surfaces as well as the offroad trails. Quite please with the purchase of both parties for the intentional use of offroading and hitting the snow at Tahoe this winter.
mean time, here's a few pics with the current offroad wheels I've had on for a few months now.

My original set had chrome peeling as wel.
I purchased a new set of aftermarket wheels , but didn't feel like throwing the old ones away.
So I had them powdercoated .
The company that did it said it would cost me 75 euro's each.
I agreed and they went to work on it, but had such a hard time getting it right that I ended up paying 80euro's each.
But even for that price they would never do it again. So I understand powdercoating chrome wheels is not so easy.
I have the rims in storage but I'll post a pic next week.
They turned out rather nice in silver grey.

im full of questions tonight, when you guys are powdercoating, are you doing inside and out, im talking about inside the rim, the part that wont be seen because of the tire. i guess i ask because i was wondering if the powdercoating is applied where the tire seals on the wheel, or is that area taped off so that its a rubber seals to alloy? am i making sense?
