Non-VX thread. I was just wondering what kind of pets everyone on here has? I have a very extensive list. With a new comer next month (Bearded Dragon, does anyone on here have one or had, that can shoot me some helpfull info?)
My List: (I still live with my Dad, so thats the reason for the multiple GS's)
8 - German Shepherd's 3 National Ranked in the top 10 of all GS's - 2 are in the top 5 - 1 is #2 only second to his training partner. (Our dogs are trained in search and rescue, obebidence, Schzhund and Rally....
3 - Cats 1 minx
3 - Aquatic Turtles one Red Ear Slider, 2 Mississipi Maps
Comming soon a Bearded Dragon? Any past or present owners out there?

Hey, right now I have a Chihuahua mix of some kind, and 2 cats, an Oriental Shorthair and a Cornish Rex.
However, when I was younger, I was an avid herper. At one point I had 5 aquatic turtles, 2 box turtles, a Florida King Snake, a Savanah monitor, a black and white tegu, a red-tailed boa, 2 ball pythons, a very large green iguana and a Tokay gecko....and oh yeah, 2 African Clawed frogs.
Right now I have no herps. Mostly because I have been moving around alot since I lived in Florida, but also because the herp pet trade left a bad taste in my mouth. Some of the over collection and poor husbandry I saw eventually got to me.
I plan to once again have a nice tank, maybe next year after we buy a house. I want to get a nice breeding pair of AFCs again (African Clawed Frogs) and I would like to build a nice turtle tank again. I have always wanted a Mata Mata and now I have the time, space and money, so eventually I will try to find a CB Mata Mata. If I don't go Mata Mata I will try to find a CB Alligator Snapping Turtle or a just a couple common snappers.
I just say make sure you know it is CB. The wild populations are dwindling, fast...

PS - Moncha, you probably want to move this thread to "chit-chat".

Samoyed and Main Coon mix for me. The dog seems to like the cat -- glad somebody does ;)
The dog's name is Bitsy and she's a certified Canine Good Citizen and West Michigan Therapy Dog. She raises money every year for the Wonderland Samoyed Safe Haven (rescue), so we joke that her title is:
Bitsy "Shake Your Money Maker" Tobey CGC, WMTD
The cat is a certified menace to small creatures and catnip mice. She has all of her claws and knows how to use them.

We have four, three dogs and one cat. Molly is a black lab/collie mix. She is 15 yrs old, about 60 lbs. Unfortunately Molly has recently gone deaf and has some hip problems. We have two Shiba Inus, Rex and Princess. Rex is 7 yrs old, 22 lbs. Princess is 6 yrs old, 19 lbs. Our cat, Tria, is, I think, a domestic shorthair. She's a black and white tuxedo cat, about 1.5 yrs old, 10 lbs. Here's a pic of the canine crew...
http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/GangVers2.jpg
Molly is one of the dogs my wife had in Ohio before we met and came with her when she moved here to Florida. Before too long Rex won us over at a pet store.
Here's another of Rex smiling for the camera. He loves cameras, laser pointers, and stuffed animals. He's grumpy some times but he's alright.
http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/DSC01011vers2.jpg
Princess used to be called Mia. The veterinarian told us they had another Shiba that they saw and that the owner needed to find a new home for her. The vet office believed she was being abused by her owners. We were the only other people they knew who had a Shiba, and they asked if we could adopt her. Well I couldn't say no. We took her in, renamed her Princess after a West Highland white terrier I once had, and she is a very sweet dog.
Apparently Princess was around cats before. She seems to have a real affinity for them. She is good buddies with our cat, Tria, and was immediately protective of her when we introduced her to the dogs. And if you're new and you're a cat, Princess is the friend you want to have. She is the smallest dog, but can whip them all. No joke. Anyway, here they are together...
http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/tria476vers2.jpg
I found Tria as a kitten in the middle of traffic on one of our city's busiest roads. She had a mangled tail and rear leg and was trying to pull herself off the road into the grassy median. I caught her and got her to the closest vet, who guessed her a 6 weeks old. She ended up losing both the tail and the leg, but she gets around like a champ. She is the sweetest, best pet I've ever had. Very, very affectionate and just a total sweetheart. My wife says the cat is the real love of my life. :-)

Well, we're cat people here, all in doors. And I know now, when I come back, I want to come back as a indoor puddy kat, what a life. Would love to have another Black Dane, but sure that would go over like faltulentus in a church. Could you imagine the damage a dane and 4 cats could do, wow. Anyway, here they are in order of age. HI there. Did someone say PETS? That's my favorite topic so the heck with just lurking - time to add a long-overdue post! I have a rescued Boxer, rescued English Bulldog, and a pug. Representing the bird population we have a Blue and Gold Macaw and an African Grey. Reptiles include 3 adult box turtles, 16 hatchling box turtles, and two indoor water turtles (it was too cold to put them in the pond when I rescued them so they're inside until spring gets here). In the other pond I have "too many to count" koi, goldfish, and frogs. My daughter has a chinchilla and two horses. Guess that's it - I had to cut way back on pets when I went back to work full time. :(

sorry, that is my teenage Internet gamer coming out. It rears its ugly head every now and then. "teh" is just a common misspelling of the word "the" that many in the Internet-gaming arena have come to accept as the proper spelling due its frequent misspelling. "Pwnt" is from "own", a one-word insult when one person destroys another. Another common misspelling thingy applies here. the "P" is next to the "O" so in trying to type this quickly, many spell "own" as "pwn". The "t" on the end is to denote that it is past tense. Put those two things together "teh" + "pwnt" = Internet nerd slang for "da bomb" or any colloquialism or idiom similar to it.
Anywho...it means I love it
And for those of you who stopped reading many lines ago, I applaud you for realizing the pointlessness of this entire post. :p
...btw, sue, my wife insists, she needs a picture of your pug. She is a pugaholic (addicted to pugahol) and is obsessed with anything with the word "pug" in it...oddly enough I cant get her to like Pugeuots...and she demands a picture. I, on the other hand, demand a picture of the E. Bulldog. We are a demanding couple...sorry

. . . I'm going to attempt to post pictures here of the pug and the English Bulldog. If that doesn't work they are out on the Gallery. Thanks for the very clear explanation of that internet gaming slang. We're never too old to learn and who knows - that may come in handy some day! I have to admit though, it certainly didn't LOOK like a positive comment - at first glance it truly looks demeaning and derogatory, thus proving looks CAN be deceiving.
