pretty much anything will go on the 4wd shifter, its got standard threading for a manual shifter... i know a lot of people have used the razo ra94 for their auto... i used an autotechnica shifter for mine, but had to modify it quite a bit to make it work... but i love the way it looks... got my 4wd shifter from ebay

As was mentioned above, an off the shelf unit will work for the 4WD, I think I bought mine at Pep Boys. My trans knob is from an axiom, and took quite a bit of work to make it fit. This picture was taken before I shortened the shift lever from the transmission to make the handle trim ride down flush with the cover around the bottom of the lever. I believe most of the shift knobs made for an automatic with a "push to unlock" feature will work.

alrite about 4wd shifter i knew it, am asking about auto tranny shifter because they have like 10 different styles and they all for auto tranny so i was wondering if they fit or do i have to modify them and if yes then how difficult to modify them?

depends which ones you are looking at, the shaft that comes up is just over 1/2" the shifter i bought had a 1/2" collar.. which of course didnt fit, so i had to bore it out.. i stepped it up to 9/16 and that did the trick, not a perfect fit, so there was a hint of rattling, but a quick coat of e-tape around the shaft fixed that problem. posting links to the shifters would help figure out if it will fit or not, it really comes down to how much work you want to put in.. you can make just anything fit if youre willing to put in the wrench time

also keep in mind that theres that square collar over the shaft, so unless your shifter fits over that, youll have to remove it, which leaves the shaft exposed (which is pretty ugly) or let your shifter rest on it

Just look in my gallery to get an idea. Like most people here, changing out the auto shifter will require a little work to make it fit right.

exactly.. mine took about a month and a half of trying this and trying that to eliminate the rattling and the occasional shift lock sticking (couldnt get the key out because the shift knob wouldnt raise back up fully) but now it works beautifully and havent had issues with it for about 6 months

Hi,

I am also going to change out my shift knob, 4x4 knob and pedals. I was thinking of:

Shift Knob:

4x4 Knob:
http://www.cardomain.com/item/MOMATOBK4

Pedal Set:
http://www.cardomain.com/item/MOMGPA1111

Does anyone think I will run into any problems or would these all fit very easily? I should receive my VX next week and I have forgotten what the shift knob looks like. Does it have OD or a button? I see many auto shift knobs have different features.

Thanks

looks like itd all work out just fine, 2 things to be weary of, the stock brake pedal is teenie tiny, i had a brake pad cover that was just too big, i couldnt get it to fit for the life of me, hopefully the bolt through kind will be better for that... also with that shift knob, iirc i think a few people on this site have had issues with that shifter rattling, the OD button gets loose and rattles away, searching the site should return some solutions for that problem though
