View Full Version : Your ONE favorite mod...and why? And how much $$$?

Okay, I'm almost at the end of my upgrade path. It's been fun, and challenging, and worthwhile, and maybe a bit spendy.

I look at my VX now and it is completely different from when I bought it. I loved it before, but now it is truly MINE.

I was thinking about the various modifications I've made, and I cannot decide which ONE either made the most significant difference or just made me smile the most.

What about all of YOU? Was there one modification that just blew you away? Looks? Performance? Audio? Visual?

I could cheat and say that my favorite mod was changing my Infiniti FX35 into a Vehicross. Or that changing from my first Victory White Ironman to my current Ebony really made a psychological difference.

But in a boring way, I think I'll go with: Rancho RS9000 shocks. Man! What an improvement in ride quality! $289. Sweet.

Any other input?

Hey Tone! Good to 'see' you again. Wanna drive out to Seattle next weekend for a NW VX Meet?

I think supercharging would probably be the ultimate mod. I wish I had a spare $3k to pony up (plus the confidence in my mechanical know-how to bolt it on!)

And sorry, etlsport. No cheating. One mod only! :p

I'm digging your LCD screen, though...

Yeah, I forgot about that! I'll be installing RAMM mat throughout the VX this summer, too...

I know that it makes an incredible difference. And it's not TOO horribly expensive...

haha... one, huh?

Hmmm...

As of right now my favorite would have to be the hood 'sport' bra (just the hood part of the oem mask).

Yeah, it's simple and cheap - but I really like the look (form) & it functions great.

Cost: $150.

Far & away, the supercharger was the best "BANG"...but it was also the most buck.

I know you said only one, but the s/c is performance...my favorite mod to make my VX look the way I wanted, is by far the lift/wheels & tires combo.

Sorry I broke the rules...but I was never able to color inside the lines either.

1) Debadging - I love the way people who drive by search for something that will tell them what the hell it is. - Free

2) PV1 - Sounds too cool... - $100 and something.

So far it's been the wheels. They always seem to make the biggest difference in changing the looks of a vehicle.

Summer set = ~$800

Winter set = ~$800

I would have to say the JLaudio 12W6 in the rear door. It makes the music sound so much better. shawn

My DIY paint job was a blast to do and gets a ton of comments. Some are even positive! It cost me about $150 in rattlecan and a bedliner kit. Thinking of a new color for summer. Tan?

For sure my LIFT...I love the stance.

Bart, I just got to say, your rims are awesome, they look great.

Thanks. I love those rims. I never get tired of looking at them on my VX...

Its funny, I once saw another truck running the Teflon Chambers.....and they just didn't work. These were made for black VXes for sure!

Everything I have put on my VX has taken away performance or gas mileage except for the 4.77 gears. The gears have recouped both performance and gas mileage so I gotta go with the gears as my favorite. Cost: so far, loss of sleep, lots of fluid, $1150 plus a road trip. I replaced the incorrectly installed pinion seal but I still need to pull the front diff again to replace the outer pinion bearing that was incorrectly preloaded. And BTW, there IS a tool for doing it correctly but I am not sure you can rent it or not. So a shop would NOT be guessing as I was once told. DO NOT attempt to guess the preload on the pinion! This mod has been a p.i.t.a. so my favorite upgrade is also my least favorite. Go figure!

I would like a built-in screen (not a flip up) w/ nav. BUT, since I haven't figured out how to do this yet, I don't have any mods except my sunroof which I will say is great! ......it was free for me though. ;)

Girls, are, like, SO TOTALLY LUCKY AND STUFF.

No cover charges...free drinks...never pay for movies...

...and now, free sunroofs in their VXs!

I can see why Michael Jackson wanted to become Diana Ross. All the free stuff!

Girls, are, like, SO TOTALLY LUCKY AND STUFF.LOL ;Db;

Lets see... I'm going to go with my audio system as my favorite of all the mods that I've done so far.

There are many runner-ups: the titanium VX grill badge, the lift, the Yakima rack, Tone's door popper, Tone's hitch

But I'm pretty sure my favorites will ultimately be two projects that are still in the planning / parts acquisition phase: a diesel engine swap and a 4.77 gear swap.

Supercharger; because in years past I never had the nerve (or the $$$) to modify an engine....especially one that is still under factory warranty!

The blower plus the cold air intake mod has made every roadtrip that much more rewarding. As Tone has said before....it makes the VX perform like it should have from the factory!

15" of HD DVD GPS iTunes + + + & +

Being able to plug in my iPod, when the laptop stays home. :)
