View Full Version : Clear Front Side Lens Prototype...
Folks...
Just giving you glimpse of what's to come. First mold casting of a clear side lens. Not as 100% perfect as I want it to be. But, it's a start. ;)

Ron, I installed Tone's side marker/indicator conversion kit. You have to drill a little hole to fit the additional bulb. But the stock side marker is hollowed out enough to fit both. Since it sticks out a bit. It looks like yours has space for one bulb.
Can it cover two and accomodate that mod? http://www.chetanekwe.com/Smiles/worry.gif
hey guys...
Thanks for the thumbs up. Just letting you know that this mod is not complete yet. This is the first prototype ever produced. It took me 2 tries before I got this result. Basically, took the stock lens and made a 2-part silicone mold of it and injected it with clear resin. What I mean by 100% is the fact that it has bubbles within and on the exterior of the lens. I had to apply additional handwork, touch-up with more resin on the cavities, and re-sand by hand and spray with a temporary clear coat.
I still have to develop the mold for the left hand side as this is the right side displayed. My goal would be to also cast the back housing as well so I can glue both the lens and housing together. So basically, all you would have to do is remove the stock lens with housing and replace with this version. Would take but a minute to install.

My laptop has been attacked by a virus recently and wiped out all my records and files including all the cad work I did for the front, rear, and side skidplates. I originally had the rear mold set to be machined out for a prototype to be produced until this happened. Now, I'll have to start from scratch (the original digitizing) in order to build a mold on cad for machining. Same goes with the sides. The front skidplate is still on my machinists machine so that's still safe. I hope to re-build the mold for the rear very quickly as I have a new design I'd like to have materialized.

Don't know about Tone's additional bulb for his kit. However, if it sticks out a bit with the stock amber lens, then it'll do the same with the clears as they are the exact size and shape as the OEM ambers.

Send me an e-mail of what you want. As you know, I don't have these clear lenses available yet to the public. So, it won't be included in the quote that you want.
