This can be an entertaining thread and help identify those non-MS OS bohemians out there as well. :p
Mine's a bit minimalist from the icon standpoint, as I keep most of my browsing links on a custom web page for easy "anywhere" access...

Ok,
For the record, Microsoft operating systems and software sucks. They just copy what Apple innovates and call it there own from the GUI interface in the early eighties to blatant copying of OS X in the most recent Vista operating system. I have used both and macs are just better because they match hardware and software to integrate flawlessly. The only thing I can say good for Microsoft is that Bill Gates gives to the poor for a fat tax break and thats about it. Ok Sorry...Here is my desktop....

If you're trying to capture images on the screen using the print screen button and it is not working, you may want to try a third-party program to capture images; a listing of these programs can be found on our screen shot definition page (http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/s/screshot.htm).
I hope this helps.:)

LDUB - How come there doesn't seem to be a single work related icon on your desktop?
Unfortunately we are not allowed to have a custom wallpaper on our desktop or laptop anymore so I won't post a pic of mine - it would bore you to tears - it looks very much like the blue screen of death that all windows users know & dread. I don't bother with the desktop at home - it's just for the kids to use & trash.

Ya can really clean up the look of your desktop by removing those annoying
little arrows, using a custom icon that fits the theme of each item, and making
the text description short enough to fit on one line.
To remove the arrows with XP-
Start menu>Run>Type Regedit>Expand HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT>Scroll down to
folder called LNKFILE>Single click on the folder>In the right pane right click on
IsShortcut and click delete.
To change the icon with XP-
Right click on the icon>Properties>Shortcut>Change icon.
Ya can create your own custom icon like I did for my VX Documents folder.
Mark
I do NOT have a single folder or window, on my desktop.
