Just an update/info for those in need.

I just ordered a new hood insert from Merlin (mine had a slight crack, the usual issue...) North American inventory shows 3 remaining after my order. I ordered it on Friday, and will have it tomorrow (Tuesday). 3 days from order to delivered? Not bad... not bad at all.....

I know after those 3 are gone we'll still be able to order a new one however, the wait for that will be 6 - 8 weeks.

Just fyi.

Mmmmm.... juice. To me, without a doubt. I'm sick with VX pride. I got it bad...

I want my vx in the best condition possible. It treats me well. I in turn treat it the same.

After all, it's my (twisted) philosophy that flaws/imperfections over time pile up if gone unattended to - causing owner dissatisfaction in the long run. I plan to keep my VX for life, and want it to last (form & function) as long as possible.

I admit it. I'm a VX junkie.

And that's the FIRST step my friend, admitting there is a problem. Remember, WE are here for YOU.

Keep your original one biju, someday they will be all gone and yours should be an easy fix...

Ohh how I do love my VX and want to minimize its age and wear as best as possible like everyone else...believe me I know.
HOWEVER, now I got my wife pregnant and there's our first little one on the way so a car seat and all that comes with a messy child is in the future.
Still trying to figure if that juice was worth the squeeze! Kidding of course.
Perhaps an alternate vehicle is necessary, but the VX stays dammit!

biju, do hang on to it or sell it to someone like me that will repair it and keep it available for when they run out. I have mine that I removed when I installed the carbon fibre insert. Am playing with the idea of doing a faux carbon fiber finish on it, just one of those round to it's again. I want to play with some tinted resin's to see if I can tint the color like mine is.

WOW....and it came in one piece and looks decent!! FRIGGIN AMAZING!!
How many times I have ordered Isuzu parts and they come half-a** packaged with dents, scratches or broken ends.

Someone should cast a mold of the insert and design/construct it with a more durable flexible weather resistant material...I'm sure there would be a lot of buyers.

Wow, so pretty. Makes me want one just to save in case of disaster.

And just look how proud your pup was of it.

Cyronman,

Yes count me in. I really want a CF insert but you can count me in if it is affordable.

Beej,

You would do well to do the whole back side in fiberglass resin just to seal out moisture & prevent bubbling/cracking from under the paint. ;)

Man the CF insert looks good, does it not?

Lay at least one layer of woven cloth with that resin. Resin alone will not give you any real strength as far as cracking.

A polyurethane insert would be sweet. Or better yet, a damned hood that doesnt need the insert, heh. Someone get to work on making a 1-piece aluminum hood for us. Now! ;)
