Hey everyone,

Just a quick note to let you all know I have finished updating my site with a bunch of new photos from our Moab trip and the Reno Mini Meet II. If you are interested, check it out here (http://www.nofuture.com/myvx/myvx.htm)!

There are some cool shots, and for any of you who I have personal shots of, if you want high resolution images emailed, just PM me and I will send them!

Do you haul around junked and shot up cars so you can take pics in baren wastelands with them?! :p j/k
Man, how many sites and journals do you have online? I just can't take that many pictures.

Haha! I just love thrashed, rusted, burned out cars in the wasteland. I can't help myself. Its just beautiful to me....

And hmmm, let's see:

No Future Productions (http://www.nofuture.com)

Le Masque à Gaz (http://www.gasmasks.net)

Operation: Penetration (http://www.nofuture.com/op/op.htm)

My Live Journal (http://nfpgasmask.livejournal.com/) (I really don't care for MySpace, LJ is much cooler (or nerdier, depending on how you look at it).

and of course:

VX MADNESS (http://www.nofuture.com/myvx/myvx.htm)

There might be a few more, but I can't think of them at the moment

In the past I have had numerous other sites, but have since dismantled them. I am TRYING to be on the computer less and less, and Reno is helping with that ALOT. When I lived in Chicago, I tended to get all cooped up in the apartment all the time...the city life became very, very tiresome after a while.

Oh yeah, I also built these 2 sites for my friend, one of which will get a separate post now that you reminded me:

4wheelair (http://www.4wheelair.com/)

not very proud of, needs a little work:

PPV (http://www.punishmentproperties.com/)

I have to admit - I was hesitant to click on "Operation Penetration"! That looks like some great fun though. I have gone cave diving before... does that count? Either way, it is freakin awesome to go under ground and have to worm through some tunnel to get to another room or chamber... well hopefully there is a room or chamber anyway!!

BTW The custom fab shop has to be a good connection to have!

Yeah, when we were younger that was the "code name" for our "missions" when we went exploring. LOL. I know, it sounds like it could be something vulgar.

I love exploring. Its quite different here in Nevada, but nonetheless fun. The steel plant was my favorite but the mines were a little scary. We encountered all sorts of spots where the ceiling caved in and the mud was unreal. The kind of stuff that you had to keep moving through or else you would just sink and get REALLY stuck. And GPS does not work underground.
And talk about dark. One does not know the true meaning of darkness until you have entered a cave or mine. Your eyes kinda freak out after a while hunting for light.

That site is really outdated, I have a lot of places that I have not updated on there yet. But as you could imagine, it takes a lot of time. Time that I don't want to spend in front of the PC. And on that note, I'm gonna go do something else!

;) Bart

PS - Yes, the fab shot is good to know. Tom is working on a custom wind deflector for my roof basket right now. Which reminds me, I need to check on his progress! My dead Xterra is sitting back at PPV in Chicago still. That thing may one day become a total off road beater, if I ever get around to fixing it.

Thanks man. You know, you are in really good territory for exploring places like this. I heard of a few abandoned military spots in southern Indiana that would be cool to check out.

Yeah the Army Ammunition Plant, Tunnel Mill its endless. But yeah you would really like the Ammo Plant VERY odd stuff goes on there. Its rougly a mile from my house max. Still to this day even though it supposevly closed after WWII, you will see blacked out expeditions rolling around, men in white hazard suits coming out of buildings. LARGE FIRES. A guy I know went deep in there by truck and was escorted back by 5 SUV's and could not even drive his own car back. The Charlestown state park runs right beside it so if you stray off trail you get to see alot. Plus when I worked for the city we got a gate pass and being seniors in high school we abused the pass and drove city trucks all over the place back there. Like to the generals mansions. Google Earth Charlestown Indiana look on the right side of HWY 62 and zoom in. There is ALOT. I see the plant everyday I trek to work using hwy 62 everyday and the plant is no more than 200 yards off the HWY at times.

Yeah, I have done many a tour at the old JAAP in Joliet, IL. Its soooo cool to see all this old stuff. I have loads of photos from there that I have yet to upload to my OP site. All the old concrete ammo storage bunkers, and all the old TNT factories. All of it is abandoned and wide open. It took us several years of "penetrating" deeper and deeper until we felt "safe" going in. And after a little research we found out that the whole area is going through a big environmental clean up, which is good. But hopefully they will keep some of the old historical structures. The area is basically open now, and you can walk around freely and check out all the structures. Its really quite interesting.

If you ever get up that way, its worth checking out. JAAP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joliet_Arsenal)

The Ammo Plant is VERY restrictive still. Just this weekend I was hiking at the state park and saw the trucks and white suits in the distance working around a large newer building. At night you can see the lights to this building light up. The new stuff is built behind the large 50yr + tree line. I can see the lights only becuase I live on a hill nearby one of the few. They act like its open to anyone but as soon as you step on the grass your surrounded. As for straying off the trails at the park. You never see a truck on the road but once you hike a mile or more you see a new world of overly protected areas. Research the Rosswell to Charlestown Ammo Plant connections. Very intresting if you find the articles. They floated around town about 10 yrs ago hinting that all rosewell activities were transferred here.

Yeah, most of the JAAP site is now pretty wide open. The facilities there are sooo old that I don't think they could be used for modern munitions manufacturing. There is still a large part of the JAAP that is still used by active Army though. You see camo Hummers and such going in and out all the time.

The spot by you is probably still going strong, with the war in Iraq still raging on. Much of the JAAP is not reclaimed as farmland also. Its an open range and their are loads of cows out there now.

They are not doing any ammunition manufacturing then. Becuase there is no smoke escaping at all. The building are roughly 40ft tall white steel buildings about 10 years old or so.

Hmmm, POW holding station? Alien research? Maybe they have E.T. there?
LOL. Its all so interesting. Even after you DO know what is going on.

Good stuff.

Bart, that OP site is cool... creepy stuff. Good read and great photos.

I just watched the movie The Descent... do not know if I could have went along with you into some of those structures. lol

Oh and by the way most of these new buildings will NOT show up on any radar map. They are blank spots.

You have got me interested alot more now. Ill try to take some pics.

Man, that movie started off so good, and then just got plain silly. Some great visuals in there though. Caves are fun, I love bats.

You gotta love a little danger. There are tons of mines out here in Nevada, but they look like this:

http://www.nofuture.com/dailys/03-11-07/008.jpg

The sign says, "UNSAFE MINE, STAY OUT, STAY ALIVE"

Perhaps if it was worded a little differently, I might just explore some of them...

:) Bart

Hey Bart,

I was checking out your operation penetration site and wanted to ask if you wear some of the gear, masks etc., for actual safety or just for the imagery?

nfpgasmask

Both, but usually just for imagery! ;)

Thanks! The spoiler is actually really easy to remove and paint yourself. Just take your time, etc. I may have to repaint mine eventually. There are a few small rock chips on it now, but not that noticable.
