going through the galleries here has re-inspired me to attempt some mild photography.. so i went out yesterday and snapped like 50 some pics.. like 20-30 of the VX... figured some would be interested in looking at it.. maybe others could reply to this post with their outside photography pages so we have a place to find pics not in the gallery (but please dont post pics in this post... they take too long to load!

What!No Ben Franklin bridge, no parked on the art museum steps, no stinky carriages, no stupid bell, no Wannamakers.......man, you gotta try harder than this to make me homesick. Now go pick up my friend Bashier, up on Spring Garden St. and take some footage at the Gallery train station...that should be exciting....like a broken ball joint at 65mph. Nice stuff. Really, take some more, you have tons of great backdrops in that area. My kids still live there.

Nice pics, ETL, but I think something in YELLOW would have made a very nice contrast. :p Seriously, keep up the good work & see you at another northeast meet. Maybe you guys in Philly could drive up to the Lehigh Valley.

Some tips for your next photo shoot.
1. Keep the sun at your back.
2. Try to take pics after washing/detailing your VX.
3. Place the camera on the ground looking up at the VX. Literally, place it on the ground. This makes for some pretty cool shots.
4. Get closer to your subject. This allows folks to see more detail.
5. Take time to focus the camera and keep a steady hand while snapping the pic.
6. Be sure you're using the right setting on the camera for the shot you're taking. Most people forget about this step. For example, you don't want to the camera in motion mode if you're taking a pic of a still object.
BTW, What camera are you using?

thanks for the tips... i was actually using a tripod set about 6" off the ground for many of the shots.. im not known for having a steady hand haha.. i do know about the sun and all.. i was just snapping randomly for fun, next time im out ill give the ol girl a good spit shining beforehand...
im not using anything fancy.. a canon powershot sd700 (6mp) on manual settings.. hopefully one day ill stop buying stuff for the VX for like a week and be able to save up for a good digital SLR

Hey E!
Thanks! Photography is a fun, but expensive hobby. If you have an eye for it, and enjoy taking photos, spending the money on quality gear is worth it. We (Linda and I) have 2 cameras, a Canon A620 (Small point and shoot, 7.1 MP) and a Nikon D50 (Digital SLR, 5 MP). Both cameras are nice and take really nice photos. The Canon is nice to carry around all the time, and I specifically bought this one because it has some features I like plus it has a rotating LCD viewfinder, for those killer ground shots. The Nikon is great because it takes superb photos and has awesome color saturation and it can be used like a true SLR camera, exchanging lenses, etc. We recently got a wicked macro lens, that's what I use on the tiny stuff, like the ants.
Weber grills rule! We wanted a nice charcoal grill (propane sucks), and this one seemed to be the best you can get. I love grillin!
And yes, next year, you should go to Moab, and then go further west to the Reno area. Its awesome out here! Reno is not well understood by those East of the Mississippi I find. Its so funny what most people think. Reno is NOT a suburb of Las Vegas (LV is like 7-8 VX hours away). Reno is NOT just a trailer park and a casino in the middle of the desert, and Reno is NOT hot desert like Arizona. We have no cacti here! :) And despite the show, Reno is not much like Reno 911, although we do have a few seedy areas, but what city doesn't?
Now, that said, Reno is NOT a cultural mecca either. But as far as outdoor recreation goes, Reno has it all! Mountain biking, hiking, camping, canoeing, skiing, snowboarding, off roading, shooting, fishing, on and on. And in 3.5 hours, I can be in San Francisco, which is kind of a cultural mecca. :)
Before moving, we considered Colorado, and northern Arizona. Colorado didn't cut it, because my wife loves Cali and Reno is on the border, making Cali access a breeze, and Colorado is a little overcrowded, from what I hear. Reno has no real traffic. And norhtern Arizona is nice (you heat freaks can keep your Phoenix and Tuscon) but jobs there seemed few and far between. Plus, again, Reno is closer to Cali. So here we are and we are doing our best to get outside and take advantage of it!
Bart
PS - We don't gamble either, but I would imagine Reno is not a good place to live if you have (or could acquire) a gambling problem.

Sport-
Nice pics...
It's funy, just yesterday I was trying to find some good pics of a Kaiser, since I haven't seen one in person yet and I haven't been able to judge by pics yet of how they truly look, but thanks to these I really get an idea. When I started looking for my VX I was looking for one but I don't think there's one west of the Mississippi! They look good but I'm happy with white. I still want to see one in person some day though.
Keep up the good work.
