Hey all! I couldn't see out of my back window so I purchased a VR3 In-Dash DVD player with the hopes of installing a reverse-camera into it. It turns out that the VX has an extra brown wire which doesn't fit and I found that the VR3 unit draws power from the brown parking brake wire. There is a large grey cube adapter which connects fine to the VR3 but the smaller white cube adapter I can't find for purchase which would allow me to connect the VX wiring (white cube adapter) to the VR3 head unit. Does anyone know where I could find this adapter? I looked through the threads on this site and found info on how to take apart the dash but the wiring part I wasn't able to get info on. I went to my local autozone and walmart but neither place had the adapter I need. Does anyone know what the heck I'm talking about (LOL)? Thanks a lot in advance!
You need to just wire it up direct and not use an adapter.
By adapter, I assume you mean something that wil allow you to just plug it into the VX harness.
You might find that at a car stereo store. Ask for the install manager or a sales person and tell them what you want to do. Ask if they have any kits or adapters that would help. I doubt it... the VX was a short production run as far as cars go.
Good luck.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll just splice the wires and twist them together. Thanks a lot!

Solder those wires. It'll save you time and frustration down the road.

it would be nice to have a few pictures so we can help you, but ill try now anyways
the vx is a limited production car but the audio isnt, its basically the same old same old in every isuzu form 99+. walmart or any audio shops probably carry the harness and trust me it makes your life a lot easier (i spliced the wires.....not fun).
have u removed the cd changer yet? if not then i believe that is the changers harness, completely useless if you are using a aftermarket deck.
as for the parking brake wire, it is located in the center console called, i have no idea what color the wire is and right now i am too lazy to look it up.
ps. generally if you connect that wire to the parking brake light it allows u to turn on the screen for dvds or access ur rca video channels. so if thats the case on ur deck then u wont be able to use it as a rear view camera monitor.

The parking brake wire is intended to prevent people from watching while driving which would effectively screw up your plans for using it as a camera.
However . . . .
You should be able to just attach the wire to a suitable power supply(I think even the radio's own power supply would work) and that would get around it.
Check a few forums that deal with radio and dvd mods to double check for sure the best way to do it.

the parking brake wire from the head unit (usually solid green) should be grounded, not powered

tat really depends on the deck, mine for instances is a pwr line.

Thanks a lot for all the help! I tried to do this myself for hours had the tech guy over at best buy install it because I couldn't get the ground wired correctly; cost me $17. The color coding on the VX and the VR3 didn't match up and the tech needed to use a voltage meter to figure out what went where. On another thread I was discussing this relay which was connected to the TOD under the passenger seat so now this is my new task. I wish I could upload audio so everyone could hear the INSANE sound this relay is making. The person who owned the VX before me had this relay hooked up to the TOD brain and if I remove it the CHECK light for the TOD comes on and the TOD doesn't function; fun! I can't for the life of me figure out what the hell this relay is for and neither could the techie at best buy. It seems to do nothing at all but can't be removed; it's so weird!

no i mean when you are doing a "proper" install.. ie video only works when parking brake is on... how do you get power to that wire that corresponds to the parking brake
