Just finished the 30,000 service...plus. Tranny filter then flush and fill...drain P/S and Brake fluid...both diffs and transfer box...new wheel bearings all around... and a new fuel filter. All juice is Mobil one, the fuel is always Sunoco 93. Anyway, I took it on an 80 mi. round trip. About ten miles was small town driving, the rest was 60-70mph. windows down, with a couple of quick stabs to 80 to pass stuff. All roads are ruler straight, and table smooth two lanes. My average MPG was 22.137!!! This is by far the best numbers I've ever gotten from this machine. At one point, when it was new, I got a dismal 14! 22.137, I am impressed.
It sure would be nice if those #s were consistent... but sadly, I'll bet you end up averaging less on that WHOLE tankfull. :(
All the fluid changes are certainly a big help. Everything just works more efficiently and so, uses less fuel.
Good job!
Enjoy it while it lasts!!! :)
your humble 14.3 mpg VXer... :(

I regularly get 18 or 19 no problem. Even brush up against 20 occasionally. Fla. is FLAT. I think the engine is comming into its sweet spot. Usually, around 30 or 40,000 mi.,an engine makes a bit more power, and runs a bit more efficiently. I may be just getting there now. I did a 175 mi. turn today, same sort of conditions...Fill at start, fill at end...same type two lanes, and speeds...21.2.
;) That's pretty good mileage!!
