View Full Version : What does Dino do at work???
I work for Mamas Fish House (http://www.mamasfishhouse.com/) and I build stuff like this:
http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/washdown_rack_.jpg
It's a washdown rack for the fish cutting boards that the restaurant kitchen uses. The cutting boards are 2' x 5' and this rack will hold four of them so they can be pressure washed easily. Took about a day to fabricate. It's all stainless steel MIG welded.
I love my job!!!

So I have always wondered about welding stainless and aluminium. Is there a special process or special rod or welding supplies you need? I know the fumes from metals other than basic steel can get toxic....so fill us in...

Nice Gig..working right there on the beach!.....Back in 94 i lived there for a year in the three story condo behind Mama's, Windsurfing almost everyday and would launch out there infront off the reef Would see guys working on those old cars everyday in the shop! i guess theres alot of upkeep on those cars since they sit in the salty air day and night? Good for you Maui is the nicest place to live i think out of all the islands or at least it was back then
Heh... I just noted this post and decided to follow up. Guess I missed the replies.
My girlfriend and I just got home from having a big ol lunch at Mamas. The boss comped me a meal to kick off my VACATION!!!!!
Yep, outta there for two weeks. Taking a little trip to northern NY then down to NYC for three days. We're leaving Tuesday and we get back the 24th. I'll be sure to keep my eyes out for any VXers and post em up in the sightings section.
SBC.. Kuau Plaza! Windsurfing! Yeah that was me too from 90 - 94!!!!! Sailed almost every day! Lived in a 300 sq foot room in Haiku and paid $400 a month! I was a graphic artist then and within the first two months of being here I was here, I was working on the 1990 Aloha Classic poster!! I was pretty stoked!!
I went back to the mainland and lived in Mesa AZ for 4 years, then back here in 98. Met the owner of Mamas in 2000, helped build his $3 mil house on the big lot everyone used to rig in, right out front and to the left of the restaurant. It's a pretty cool house. I put the slate roof on it, then came on board as a maintenance engineer for the restaurant when the house was done. Later I moved to the backend crew and now I just design and build stuff!! I also do a lot of mechanical engineering and repairs... love the gig!!
If you ever visit, we'll have to do a downwinder from Ho'okipa!!
