Good deal on Rancho RS9000X Nine-Speed Shocks

I came along this site that has a great deal on these. Looks like they have a "4 for the price of 3" special so you get a set of four new Rancho RS9000X Nine-Speed shocks for $209.85 with FREE shipping! I have not seen a better price for these shocks anywhere. Too bad all four of my OEM shocks were replaced under warranty just 10K miles ago or I would be all over these.

They also have a Rancho® Dual-Action Remote Control for these shocks for $139.95 with FREE shipping as well.

You tell them the make/model/year/etc of the vehicle and they match it to the correct specific 9000 series shocks.

#RS99214 and RS99215.

That's a great price. I paid $79.95 each, + $60 to install, + a $20 tip, + tax = $422.59.

I skipped the remote to avoid problems and keep them set on 7. These shocks rock! If I bought a new VX, this would be the first thing I changed. I can't imagine ever having non-adjustable shocks again. You're stuck with one setting, like it or not.

I thought about installing them myself, but chickened out. I'm glad I did. One on the fronts went on easy, the rest were a bear. One of the front sleeves was FROZEN to the bolt. He said the upper rears have an odd set-up making it hard to get them on.

I think these are a good thing for everyone to change, even if you have no problems with the stock shocks.

Any reason why I would need the 9 position shock as apposed to the RS5000? :?: I do not offroad enough (other than 3-4 rally crosses a year) to suffice the need for the adjustable ones. What exactly are the adjustments for? Ride height? Ride comfort, stiffer or softer suspension, and what type of terrain would need the stiffer suspension as apposed to the softer?

Thanks for the help guys, my OEM's are SHOT and ISUZU :argue: refuses to help since I am out of warranty (even though they have on record 4 complaints from me about the shocks before warranty ran out). Now I am literally BOUNCING down the road!!! :thumbdn:

CaptMorgan, They stiffen or loosen the ride. you would use the stiffest for offroading and the softest for a smooth road. The 5000's are more of an offroading shock, the 9000's can be either.

I love these shocks i paid also $79 each and I did invest in the remote control unit which i think is the icing on the cake :clap:
I love the fact that i dont have to get out of the car to adjust them. as far as problems with the remote if the person dont know what there doing it can be a pain as i found out the hard way ( i even went to a authorised dealer to install it) but after 4 trips to the place and a lot of agravation i finaly decided to bring it to another guy who found out the problem ( a faulty conector) in less than 5 minutes and fixed in another 2 minutes at no charge. now everything works great! :thumbup:

Just purchased me a set, I'll probably feel like I'm in a new vehicle once these are on there!!!!:jump: and I hope they hurry, casue I'm a ruinin ma' tarrs!!!! anyone know of a good place to have these installed for not too darned expensive? In the Ft. Worth area that is!!!

Well, today I received a drop-shipment from Arkansas for the front shocks - #RS99214. Still waiting on the rears and the remote control.

Today I received the rears (RS99215) and the control box, both were drop shipped, in seperate boxes, from SoCal. Now to find a place to install them. Yefim, any suggestions?

Hey. glad you got your full set! The only place I can recommend is Peter's Auto Center in Nashua. If you do go there, ask to speak to Mike Flaherty and tell him I said "hi". Mike has been awesome and I highly recommend their work. I had nothing but good expereince at their place. I don't know about any other places but you can shop around, see who gives you a decent price. Good luck! Let me know how do you like them once they are installed... :)

I recieved a call from Sam's Offroad Equipment today stating that because I dind't have a regular vehicle :mad: (what does that mean?) I needed to call Rancho myself to get the p/n's. I was going to do that to confirm the parts on this post, but I was on hold for 8 minutes... :eek: goodness.

Anyway, I'll trust your part numbers for my 99 VX and was just wondering about the RS99700 Remote Control. Is it necessary if I will only be offroading once a month? And I probably won't be doing any heavy class riding for a while. I'm willing to get out and adjust whatever as long as its not too technical, that word scares me!!!

Interesting, as Sam's just sent me both sets of shocks. They sent them in two different packages and they arrived about 2 days apart. Not sure why they are asking for the part numbers, but the ones they sent me were the exact numbers listed previously.

The adjustment is real easy, even once installed. It's just a little knob at the top of the shock that goes from 1 to 9. Literally that easy.
