Does anyone understand the current generation of driveline capabilities differences being offered by such outfits as Land Rover, versus the old Torque on Demand system of the Vehicross? ( Although, I think Isuzu made an error in naming theirs Torque on Demand. A better choice might have been Traction on Demand.) Is "Terrain Sensing" really any different? Or CommandShift any different than low range locked differentials?
Thanks for your input here.

I think LR uses a type of Haldex system, or something pretty similar... think VW. The main differences are in the clutches, and how the power is moved around. Everyone has a slightly different take on their 4x but Rovers is pretty stout, not that TOD is fragile, just different weights and hp..

Thank you for that insight. So, these automatic all-wheel drive systems are pretty much the same in general concept? Then, is the VX low mode that locks up both differentials any different than other 4x4's out there?
