A young guy came in yesterday morning, he hadn't seen his truck since the night it was boned in the drivers door. We are about 2 grand from totaling it...an '05 Silverado he owes a bunch of money on. I told him the cab was a loss, and we were swapping an '03 cab onto his truck....guess they didn't know what to expect...as I led them into the shop, his wife gasped aloud, he just stared, shocked...utterly speachless. When his eyes started to get wet, I tried comforting him by explaining it wasn't as bad as it looked, and this was something we've done hundreds of times. These are the deliveries I love to make...the disbelief on their face when they see their friend back all fresh and shiny, looking better than before the wreck. http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/thumbs/IMG_1911.JPG (http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/IMG_1911.JPG)http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/thumbs/IMG_1912.JPG (http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/IMG_1912.JPG)http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/thumbs/IMG_1913.JPG (http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/IMG_1913.JPG)http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/thumbs/IMG_1914.JPG (http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/IMG_1914.JPG)

Oh my god! You GHOUL!!! Why would you let someone see their truck like that?! You're like a serial killer who likes to pose his victims' bodies for when they're found! ;-)

You will have to post the "AFTER" pictures when you finish this one, Chopper.

Look carefully, you'll see 0177 in the backround...didn't notice that. The Chevy took the hit well. The cab floor crumpled pretty badly, but only one cross member bent...and the rear axle is maybe 3/8 out....but it's a Chevy, might have been like that from the factory(the tires are worn to fit the twist) we'll make it right for them.....his crap *%!@$ Progressive insurance sure isn't helping him any.

Heh. When my Subaru had to go under the knife, they were careful to prepare me before I went back. "Now, I want you to know that things are going to look pretty bad."

Apparently that reaction is pretty common...

We are. Totaling it is the last thing he needs....he'll still owe 5 grand, and have no vehicle. Mechanically, it's fine...the cab and d/s doors are gone, one frame member is bent. Aside from cutting the shifter hole in the floor(2x cab-4x truck) and moving the seatbelt mounts(03 cab 05 truck) it's a part swap, and an allover paint job. Yes, I warn them, but they're never really ready :) One lady literally passed out and hit the floor, movie style, when she saw her sons' wreck...(the kid was fine) I'd never actually seen anyone do that before  :p I thought she was kidding :p

The finished results are in my gallery. Unfortunately, I can't get them up here yet:confused: The owner was thrilled, said he wished he'd had us do the bed at the same time. Dude is a steeplejack...climbs cell towers for a living...got guns on him like Hulk Hogan. The truck is a work truck, and was covered in scratches... the detailer did an excellent job. He took like twenty pounds of sand outta the frame, and around the tank...buffed the entire truck, then polished and waxed it...shampooed the interior and headliner...washed the engine bay, and put new stripes on the side. (the owner went over and tipped him) I love a happy ending. Wayne

Didn't you post finished pics before? I am sure I saw a Confederate flag in the back window and was going to ask if that was from the donor truck or the customer's truck.

Yeah, I put them up, then the site went down...they disappeared....All the racist crap is his. That is his window. We work on anyones vehicle...if they can pay the bill. We'd never deliver a vehicle with any logos on it.

Yeah, I know, "a customer is a customer". I was just thinking how messed up it would be if a black customer picked up his truck with a donor truck's confederate flag in the window! Glad to hear you would have removed the stickers otherwise. Truck looks great, Chop.
