Upgrading the AC on a 1999 VX

I was wondering what the difference in the AC system was between the '99 and newer model VX's? Would it be possible to upgrade the '99 to use the newer system and if so, would it be worth the effort?

I seem to remember this question a few months ago, and I believe the consensus was: it'd be a lot more work than it's worth. The 00-01 came with climate control HVAC, which means you set a temp, and it does the rest. Perhaps if you could find one of these in a junkyard and do the upgrade? But it might require a lot of surgery and brain damage :)
