Any Star Trek fans out there? I met with a local group of Star Trek prop collectors yesterday for a geek fest, culminating in watching the 2-part Menagerie episode on the big screen. For any fans out there that have thought about going, the remastering is really something to see. The original negatives have been digitally enhanced with defects and dirt removed, and all the external special effects have been redone - it's really amazing.

We started yesterday about noon at a local steak house, then went to this guy's house and watched Wrath of Khan in his really amazing home theater - he has portions of several sets plus the command chair from the Enterprise TV show. Next we went across town and saw an amazing collection of original props and costumes, ate dinner and ended at the local Regal and watched the HD version of Menagerie. It was a long day, but lots of fun and an opportunity to make new friends.
