Rims, Rims and more rims

I am just after opinions here. I really want a set of teflons. I have been looking off and on and still like the AR Chambers. I found other styles that I like..

Doms would be my first choice. If you get them get 17" and 265/70/17 for tires so I know if they will fit my VX or not.

And inspite of what Mr new guy says, I'd go with 16's for three good reasons...
1 More sidewall for rim protection (if you're planning on doing any off roading)

2 More selection

3 16's are generally less expensive than 17's

Grant, that's my way of saying welcome...:p & you might wanna get that ummm "noise" (I'm guessing CV's & or front bearings...possibly rear bearings too) fixed before you go dumping dollars into new rims etc...unless of course you have deep pockets.

The noise is not bearings. Bearings have been checked and serviced/packed front and rear. The Cv's were replaced by Denver Isuzu. But I dont want to thread jack anymore. Pm me if you have more info on my VX

when i got my VX two and a half years ago, the chrome was coming off my stock wheels, and one was bent, so i went to a local tire shop and made a "deal" on new rims and tires. I went with the AR Fuel rims, 18 inch. I was going to go to 16 inch, to open up more of a selection of what tires i could put on, but the owner of the shop said that if the car was made with 18 inch rims i had to stay with it. something to do with vehicle weight and speed.

Seems like the only thing that fits my rims are bridgestone deulers. Anyway..i don't know if this helps, but there is a picture of my VX with the AR Fuel Rims in my photo gallery. I am happy with the way they look. I think that's all i can say.

So what does any one know about powder coated rims? I am looking at these (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=CRR%2D3977860P&view=1&N=700+150+4294923107+4294923105+4294793322+) for a budget replacement of my stockers. I really want Teflon but just plain cant afford it.

So, even though the beast has 18" rims and tires, I can "downsize" to a 16" or 17" and associated tires?

yea 16 and 17" wheels (with the right offset, bolt pattern and hub bore of course) will fit with no problems.. some have even gone to 15" but that may require some minor modifications

How does anyone feel about painting rims. I dont know how well you can paint over chrome but I have found some wheel paint.

I just went to summit to look at the cheap ones but they are shiny black and thats not what I want. Mojave's are kinda pricy, I am not sure what the thugs were. I really want the look of flat and the rims and tire to be out more towards the cladding. I know that backspaing and all that will help me achieve it. That is a main reason for not spraying my current rims.

My want hand is feeling empty while my S@!% hand is very full.

I hear ya. You might also consider just painting the shiny black rims with a flat coat. You should PM nocturnalVX and ask him about his rims. I think they are just regular steel wheels and should be under $100 each. Then you could just get some nice stray paint and do em up. I think a few coats of paint will last on those type of rims. All the spray paint on my VX is actualy holding up pretty well...

The Chambers set me back, for sure, especially the 5th one. And I just noticed yesterday that there is a giant hunk of metal stuck in one of my tires. :mad: Its not loosing air, but...
