Should collect it at the weekend - a 1997 JDM example in Astral Silver with 71k miles on the clock.

That is very low miles for a '97... hope you enjoy your VX for years to come! Welcome to the VehiCROSS family!

Thanks, i signed up almost a year ago when I started looking in any kind of "serious" way. They are like hen's teeth over here - maybe 20 in the country maximum. I didn't really intend on buying it either. The last one i went tlo look at was an 800 mile round trip and when I noticed this one was only a 100 mile round trip I couldn't not go - even to reassure myself it was crap. Sadly/fortunately is isn't/wasn't and the guy gave me a very good trade-in on my Yaris diesel. My big fear is the fuel cost!
Mileage wise that is pretty good, although here in the UK we do less miles than North Americans on average - the last one I looked at had 96k iirc and was a '99 model but had some "uncertainties" that I didn't like and was about £2k more expensive so...
First "mod" will be new wheels/tyres - the current ones look a bit like doughnuts stuck on a lego car. Maybe a little more wheel and a little less tyre. 16s?
Cheers again!

Welcome to the cult. Fuel is gonna be rough...get an ever so practical bike for the day to day slog. Commin' outta a Yaris diesel is gonna be stunning.....in every way. Hope your experience is all positive.

What the...? Hey! They put the steering wheel on the wrong side!!
I like the interior, too. I thought they all had leather seats?

Nope, leather's not popular in Japan for some reason so only to 175 special edition (http://www.goo-net.com/cgi-bin/goojp/used_eng/spread_n_w.cgi?goo_car_id=700054027920070919003&areacd=13&maker_cd=1060&car_cd=10602004&baitai=goo&car_cd_list=10602004&search_type=maker_search) got the red/black leather that you guys all have.
The seats are the same recaros, just with a nastier fabric!
Cheers Chopper - don't underestimate the Yaris though! Fuel consumption IS going to be a scare...
Thanks for the (re)welcomes everyone!

Well... its sitting one my driveway like some sort of UFO and I can't stop grinning from ear to ear!
Couple of slight issues but nothing pressing - I'll probably stick up my questions tomorrow.
One fill of petrol cost me a smidge under £70 (that's $140 to you guys!) so I'm wondering, what sort of range should I expect?
**wanders over to window to admire it again...***
Pics to follow tomorrow!

I get about 300 miles to the tank (not that the "almost empty" light is on, but when I get to around 300 miles I fill up and I am close to empty). The US model holds 22 gallons - I'm not sure about the JDM. I think I last calculated around 16 mpg (US gallons). The supercharger and a lead foot keeps me from getting much better mileage-wise.

I can get 19 or 20 mpg average, but it is very flat here:) And yeah, seven years on, and I still look back and smile.
