Help on hatch release mod, plz

1. what to get?
2. where to get?
3. how do i get it all hooked up?

btw, i've read all the posts on thiz mod in vmag and every other possible place...

I bought the kit on eBay for about $20 shipped. I've been looking for a "popper" before attempting the install, as merely opening the latch isn't enough to disengage the door so that it'll open freely.

This isn't the kit I bought, but it is similar:

Anyone looked at using a couple magnets to repel the door back just enough to prevent re-clasping ? I am researching - if the magnets aren't too heavy - that's the route I want to go.
