The NO LIMIT OFFROAD Uwharrie 4x4Cross 2008

This IS NOT my usual ISUZUwharrie or HALLOwharrie invitation…

The Uwharrie 4x4Cross is a totally different animal… an off-road Autocross-type competition, slated to take place on the Rocky Mountain Loop trail, in North Carolina’s Uwharrie National Forest – May 9-11.

 160 Competitors racing in 7-minute intervals against the clock.
 4 different Vehicle Classes (Stock to Highly Modified).
 A total of $30,000 in Cash and Prizes will be awarded!

You will probably start hearing some noise about this event soon, in a few of the 4x4 Magazines – but once that happens, due to the limited number of slots, the likelihood of being able to register as a competitor will be next to Zero.

If you’re interested in entering as a competitor, NOW is the time to act!

So far, the Isuzu Community already has 4 Teams registered to compete:

Bansil & Smiley --- 1st Gen Isuzu Amigo... 'The RatRod'
#204 --- B Class / Stock Modified

Joe Darlington & Zman2day --- 2nd Gen Isuzu Rodeo... 'DOR Rodeo'
#211 --- B Class / Stock Modified

Joe Darlington & Zman2day -- SAS'd 1st Gen Trooper... 'Storm Trooper'
#304 --- C Class / Modified

Anubis & dallen --- SAS'd 2nd Gen Honda Passport... 'Battlewagon'
#306 --- C Class / Modified

And quite a few more will be attending as spectators :smilewink

Sure hope to see some VXs out there (racing or otherwise!)

Cheers!

Yes! Gotta clear this with my lovely wife since she's driving the IronMan, but I'm almost 100% we'll enter the street class. :bgwg:

Thanks Smiley! This is just what I needed as I've been suffering rally withdrawal!

Best of luck getting that clearance - a VX in Stock Class would ROCK!!! :yesgray:

Arrgghhh! After reviewing the calendar (lovely wife said "yes") we found the date conflicts with our annual vintage Caterpillar meet in Kansas, which I'm obliged to attend as the founder of the organization.

Do you know if there will be additional events? I've just GOT to do this!

Well, poop.

I imagine, after this first one, there will undoubtedly be similar events in the future... I'll be sure to keep you posted.

Before anyone *does* step-up, I just want to be clear...

This IS NOT a peppy little ride in the country over some forestry roads -- the race course is on one of the tougher off-road trails in Uwharrie, with steep ascents, rock outcroppings, erosion berms, etc.

Doug (Bansil) and I are participating in a 1990 Amigo -- a vehicle in which he is presently busy building a roll cage and installing racing seats & harnesses.

I would LOVE to see a VehiCROSS entered in the Stock Class (or even Stock Modified), but I certainly wouldn't want someone to do so without their eyes being wide open to the...... ummm...... ‘possibilities’.

I have no doubt that at least some of the participants will be going home with mangled sheet metal (at best).

Been following the photo journey on the planet. Very cool Amigo.I think it will go very good on the high speed stuff...hope the "lowrider" doesn't get hung up on the belly in the rocks! I'm sure the spotter will earn his keep in preventing that though.:bwgy: Good luck! Got to love the stickers on the tops of the doors!:laughy::laughy::laughy:
