Well I got a few things done this weekend. I went ahead and cut the roof rail covers to fit over my roof rack mount points. I still have to paint them and do some finishing touches but here is a preview.

I will be painting the Roof rails and cladding in the next couple months.
Next I have had some issues with air in my tire recently and found that my front right wheel was cracked. So here was my solution.

I like these rims a lot and now I REALLY have to paint my cladding. Darn….
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f180/Jimmylongwong/SP_A0489.jpg
The above pic also shows how they sit in relation to the cladding. I really wanted my tires to be out towards it more before and now it fits just like I wanted.
ROCK ON!!

EDIT: Sorry about the crappy pics, I took my nice digital but the batteries are junk, I just bought them

Nice! The rims look good. So you gonna keep a stock rim for a spare or did you buy a 5th rim? Your VX is gonna look sweet with painted cladding.
Is that Kickboxer or Bloodsport? I can't remember which on, been a while since I have seen a Van Damme flick...

I just got four, which is good cause those wheels are heavy and I cant imagine trying to get a full size up on the roof with that wheel. So I may put my other two up for sale here, not sure.
I think its bloodsport, not sure. I just found it and thought it was great.

Was that the set from Summit? How heavy are they vs. stock? Also, those rail covers look great!!
Nice progress my man! What color are you going to spray on the cladding?

Yeah they are the Crager Soft 8 rim, not those clearance ones. The clearance were 15 inch. I am not sure how much they weigh, but they are heavier and I think I should get a set of bracklines cause I notice a difference.

Yeah my thoughts exactly, once I get the cladding done and tinted it will look great.

nice you did a good job with those rail covers.. have to get a better shot of those wheels.. but thats making me lean towards doing my new wheels in black instead of color matched...
I say paint the wheels with whatever you paint the cladding with! And then go olive drab. Drool...

I am really thinking about it. I think once the windows and cladding are done I will be able to make my decision easier.
I definately plan on getting better (Bigger) tires later in the year.

NICE! In all honesty, I think you should stay with the silver, and just paint the cladding and insert black like you plan, and it will look freaking sick.

Another vote for the window tint:thumbup:
I would polish the insert, and call it good, but I'm low budget.
Maybe some center caps?

The tint is definately happening. The center caps were 15 a piece so I passed. I like it this way. I will paint the hub and axles so the centers look better

Blood sport it is. Also has the dude from Wildcats on there.
Remeber that scene from both of them looks like Van Dam got the powder in the eyes and Barry Bonds father looks like he just threw it onVan Dam and he is excited..

I dunno. I'm on the fence. The green would be cool if you get a good, clean, even paint job. It would also be unique. The original will still look good though.

The two holes for the rear mount were off by about 1/2 inch. I just drilled new holes and relocated the bars. Not too bad, just frustrating.

Yup, that's basically what I had to do with the Coleman basket. Except I had to shorten the tubes. There must be a "standard" length between crossbars and for whatever reason, the VX isn't standard. But then again, I am sure the Yakima basket fits perfectly....

Thanks.
The canoe just barely fits. It hangs pretty far off the back that I couldnt use that one person loader with out really extending the ball mount. We might be able to use it on th Jeep tho.

So the width of your canoe is ok but its really long?
Just make sure you use ratchet straps, 2 up front, 1-2 over the middle and 1-2 for the rear. It is a little scary the first time you hit 50mph with one up top, but if you are strapped down right, you will be ok. I got some of those pads from Sportsman's also, they help a lot.

The width is just on the line so if I run a strap around it to the rack and snug it down it should be cool.
I need to buy more straps, I could only find three and one is torn. I like the smaller ones like I have, plus they are red like my boat.

Wal*mart is pretty cheap on ratchet straps. That's where I got all mine.

Finally painted my cladding. I did it with the Bumper coating. Anything that was plastic pretty much got painted. I put new life into the cladding and the insert for sure. I even did the roof rails and spoiler.

It is that taped off Fang. I went ahead and painted the black on that again since it had a few chips.
No this was actual Bumper spray paint meant for plastic. It is the same stuff that Mark Miller used.

I've been looking at doing the same thing. Something that makes the cladding need a little less care. In a year post pictures and if it still looks that good, I'm in.
Did run across a local product that is GREAT for breaking the oxidation that sets up on the cladding after a few weeks. (No, I don't get to care for her like I should.) $30.00/gal, has silicon in it, smells heady (you could kill brain cells if you were already stupid) and I am not sure I'd smoke while appliying it. But it makes "Back to Black" go on in one coat and makes it stay black much longer. Will post pix of the aftermath next time I get a chance to detail the V.

Check with Mark Miller, I am pretty sure he said his had held up. Thats part of the reason I went this route. I also figure that it is easier to remove if I needed to than the spray on bed liner.
