So who wants to join in on a day of mountain biking on Monday May 12 2008. Once I know who wants to go we can figure out where and when. There are some great world class mt.bike trails to be explored. There are several local bike shops that rent bikes for very reasonable prices ($30-40 a day- most need 2 week advance reservation) or you can bring your own!
Its a nice way to see the trail!

All abilities welcome. I have the fitness but not the handling skills! I won't be out there trying to kill myself...just having fun!

Billy,
I would love to go, and I will bring my bike, but I don't know when I'll be getting there on Monday. I'll be coming in with the CoZuvoy, and in the past few years we ususally roll in late in the afternoon. I plan on staying in Moab until Thursday, so if I don't make it on Monday I may take a day off of wheelin' to do some bikin'.
If you have a head lamp we could do some night riding.

I was thinking about riding up (and down) the Moab Rim trail. Great views at the top and if we are lucky we can watch some vehicles get thrashed!
Of course I am up for suggestions...Slick Rock trail, ...? Time permitting we could maybe hit a couple of trails.

If anyone is planning on renting a bike in Moab remember they recommend reserving 2 weeks ahead!
So is anyone going to join Ascinder and I????????? It will be a fun day.

Come on guys, I promise I'll make Billy sign a disclaimer swearing he won't kill us on these trails:bgwo: I'm no mountain biking hero myself, I just think we'll have a great time and see some more scenery than we would on foot. I think Crncnn is down to go now, and I was try to con Bart into it the other day. I may throw our bikes on a rack and bring them in that way, they'd be good to cruise around on at the portal anyways(don't wanna use my legs like a sucker, Ha!;)

Like I said, I won't be killing myself out there. Just having fun. I have the legs and lungs but lack bigtime in the technical skills!
I was thinking of doing Slickrock in the AM then heading over to Moab Rim if time permits.
For those joining in a Camelback type hydration system is highly recomended!

HERE (http://www.poisonspiderbicycles.com/rides_mtb.html) are some trail descriptions for some possibilities. I don't know everyones skill/condition level so what do you guys think? I have the conditioning but not a lot of time on a Mt Bike. I am up for anything though. If I can't ride it I can always walk it. So what do you think?
Also since it can warm up quickly I'd like to get started by 8-9. Was thinking we could meet at the Portal at 8 and then head out from there. That way we may have time for a second trail if we want.

Well, I think it would be awesome, but I don't want to lug our bikes along with everything else....and I am not fond of rental equipment, typically. :)

Well.... if your still up for riding around 5pm I will head out with you. Can't say that I will keep up though. Soverign would be a decent evening ride and it's out and away from the valley. Wouldn't have to do the whole thing, just quick small loop.

Crager...unfortunately I think my rental has to be in by the time they close Mon. :(
MFPGASMASK...Poison Spider rents out some really nice bikes. They have quite a good selection.
So, come on and join in!
Klondike Bluff and Poison Spider Mesa both sound cool. But like I said we can decide depending on who goes.

Worth a shot. If someone wants to go, I have a Medium Haro VL120 LT that I will let someone borrow, full suspension, time pedals. One pedal is kinda stuck, but if I know someone wants to use it, then I will get it un-stuck and put some regular padals on it.

It's funny you say that, I think that's what they rent at Moab Cyclery. Most of the shops rent top of the line stuff!
You won't be dissapointed.. I'd be in if I was going this year!

Eh?? You dissing my bike. The bike and pedals work fine, but I can't easily get the pedal off the bike, for someone who doesn't have Time Cleats. Otherwise... my bike is pretty high up the line.

No, I'm being serious, we rented a nice haro full suspension two years ago.
I'm just saying, it's not exactly your typical rental equiptment in moab!
Man, lately people have been really touchy!!
It's cool

Well guys things are looking grim. Looks as if the VX will still be in the shop and the trip to Moab will be off.
So i am going to have to bow out on the Mt Biking.
Hopefully you guys will still get together, but someone else will have to take the reigns.
Sorry:(
Hope you guys have a good time.
