San Diego area VXers...

I will be in Coronado Island the 5&6 of April '08. Will be there doing the Suerfrog 1/2 Ironman. Will be in the VX! If anyone is in the area stop by and check it out. May be up for dinner Sat. night (5th) or maybe a late lunch after the race before heading back to Tucson (6th). Let me know if you are interested.
I will be staying at the Coronado Island Inn...any locals know of a good, reasonably priced pasta place close by?

And yes, I just got a new place TODAY...right next to Little Italy...so there's plenty of pasta nearby.

Since I will be pretty busy I want to try to eat close to the hotel (plus my navigating skills in unknown territory leave a bit to be desired) or if after the race close to my travel route (I-8). Dinner the night before would have to be early (4-5ish) and lunch the next day would be after the awards (late lunch/early dinner) which start at 2:30pm (probably last about an hour).
Will be a busy couple of days...drive from LA (visiting relatives for a few days), find hotel, find the expo/packet pick-up (Paradowskis Swim and Sport), eat (of course), put my race wheels on the bike and get all my gear ready, sleep, up early, race, awards, drive back home...makes me tired typing it.
Fun, Fun, Fun!
Or maybe a mini VX meet on the beach (Silver Strand State Beach) Fri or Sat? Lots of options.

That would work for me also...minus the beer and sunset. Have an 7 hour drive back to Tucson. Would have to make it 3:30ish, after the awards, on Sunday or Saturday afternoon/evening.

I'm a little flexible (not as much as triathlete MUST BE)...

When are you driving into San Diego on sat..and which way are you coming...??

It maybe easier/better to meet just off the 5 or 8 freeways.

I know a couple of good places.

I will be coming in Sat morning. Then I have to pick up my race packet and hit my hotel (Coronado Island Inn). So I would be coming from the Island. Would kind of like to check out the surf conditions though since I will be swimming through it Sun morning:eek: But I am up for options. Something easy to find though since I don't know the area to well.

I second that, Jo.
Plus, Silver Strand is rather, uhh, dull.

You'll be passing by both of us on your way there anyway, and it ain't but 20 minutes back up north (with Saturday traffic) to Jo's zip code. (PacBeach)

I think that or Crown Point would be good. Jo?
Or even Downtown is right on the other side of Coronado if you're short on time.

You can't go wrong with Perry's, but I think they close at around 2.
