OK, I was thinking about a mod that I haven't seen talked about here on VX.info. I have always liked the look of "Dualies" (the pickups with the four rear tires) and I thought that it would be awesome to do on my VX. I think the added traction would help when off-roading, but I don't know what effect a mod like this would have on the TOD, transmission, or whatever.

http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/dualie.jpg

Also, I'm sure it would lower the performance/handling of my VX, but as it would look absolutely bad***, I'd be willing to make the sacrifice. I had hoped to do this before Moab, but have not found a shop that makes these kind of conversions. Any help would be appreciated...

Oh, and you photochop pros, any chance of a pic showing what it might end up looking like? Thanks

Gill, I hope this is another April Fools day joke!!!

But just in case you're being serious, I'm gonna go ahead and say you should promptly have your head checked, buddy! ;)

As far as non-duellies being made into duellies, I have only seen one vehicle pull it off with success:

But again, somehow, I do not think the VX would look right...

In case you are actually after a serious reply:rolleyes:, it would be easy to do. Just get a GM 14 bolt rear axle-$100 or so at the local auto salvage with drw(dual rear wheel) hubs. You will have to mess around with spring perches, three link mounts, shock mounts, swaybar, gear ratio, driveline adaptor, and either convert to 8 bolt rear wheels or find a 6 bolt version(rarer); also plan on having to convert the brakes from drums to discs and losing your ABS and disabling your TOD. While you're at it, you might as well SAS the front too.:bwgy:

OOOOOOO, Bushmaster. I forgot of the FX guy who built this, he built many special craft for movies, but I will agree, I always liked this one. Some things that make you say, "Why'd 'de do dat???", but overall, cooooooool!!

The question is not if 33's will fit under the VX, but will three of them in a tristar fit under the VX??!?!?!?!?!?

Just got off the phone with Gill, turns out, he DID fall down a nasty flight of stairs just prior to having this "idea"...he still maintains that after hitting his head seven or eight times (he claims to have lost count :rolleyesg) on the way down, that "it really didn't have much of an effect".:sighwgray

I think we better put Gill on the "prayer chain".

Saw a BUNCH of vehicles with mattracks in Yellowstone this winter. They put them on vans, SUVs, even a pick-em-up! Whoever wants to sacrifice his VX for the greater (weirder) good, just step right up!

Anyone? Anyone? Beuller?

Thanks for the memory of Damnation Alley, PHO2GR4! I realized I'd seen it the second I saw the pic of the Landmaster. After a quick sojurn to imdb.com, the memories (of this terrible movie) came flooding back. :-)

OK, I think the Mattracks on the VX are pretty darn cool looking. I have a feeling that you would have to trim a bit of the cladding unless you did an uber lift. I'd be all up for it but I think they're like $15K a set. For that money I'd rather buy another VX.
