TOD is always engaged unless you have a 2wd and 4wd switch.
you will have to install a rear hook or a reese hitch. There are a couple of different designs, do a forum search..

Maybe you're asking what's the max speed you can drive in with 4WD engaged.... that's one I've always wondered. I've taken the Detroit freeways at about 50mph sometimes and it sounds like my VX is going to blow up even though it's at about 4000 rpm I think. All the gears are just screaming. I know it sounds like you wouldn't want to go that fast if the road was slippery enough to have to use 4WD but here it's the choice between going 15mph in the slow lanes or 50mph in the GrandCherokee lane sometimes. It'd be the perfect time to have a switch that would lock it into 4WD-high.

what i want to know... is can i put it into TOD while the car is in motion.. if so.. at what speed is the limit?

Interesting.... in the US we only have two choices on the lever! It's either TOD or 4WD-lo. You're owners manual must say what the limit is. Let us know!

HAH!! LOL!! :-)

Castigan, our US VX's are different in that we have only 4-Hi and 4-Lo to shift between. Our manual is quite strict and explicit - only shift while completely stopped and with transmission in neutral.

I bet you do, too. Pardon my JDM model ignorance, but do you have the 3.2L motor or the 3.5L?

That probably helps your mileage too.

The TOD has no speed limit. I was reading about the development of the TOD system. It was designed to be used at any speed. I also found out that Ford uses the same system under a different name. I lot of time went in to the development of the TOD, it truly is an engineering masterpiece.

would a jdm 3.2l VX's transfer case bolt up to our 3.5l? and if so would we have o do electronic werk or could we just pll the brains out of a jdm?
that would be cool!
it reminds me of my 4runner, i could engage 4wd at speeds ur to 35mph i believe

As far as I know they are the same. It’s just the electronics that’s different.

id be inclined to think it would just be a transfer box.... maybe computer also.. not sure really...... could be a big job... hehe.. i know nothing..
