I was asked about skid plates (I have them) and if they are required when you have a lift. My response is:
The skid plates were put on by the previous (original) owner, so I don't know the part numbers.
I am still feeling out the VX, as far as it's capabilities (not as good as a TJ IMHO, but still good), so I haven't done anything really hard (what is hard for me, may not be for you, or could be wayyyy to hard - I don't know). However, I have not hit the undercarriage yet, except for a small hit right at the rear of the gas tank and my (Tone's) hitch. In my opinion, if your driving out here in your VX, your not going to want to do anything that could possibly hurt your chances of getting back. So, you won't need skid plates. I feel that alot of that is due to driver skill vs. VX set up. My main goal (as should yours) would be to get sway bar disconnects done (can be made by you). I have been spinning my wheels alot and have had to re-do my line to an easier way, when just another inch or two of articulation will get me there. Make Sense??
Trails I have done so far in the VX:
Elephant Hill
Poison Spider just past "The Wedge"
Back Entry to Hells Revenge - My roommate who has a lifted/locked Cherokee with 33's was impressed there.
Some of Fin's and Things
I am certain that Rose Garden Hill can be done with a lifted VX.
If it hasn't been said in another post, I recommend everyone bring a couple shackles and a tow strap (just in case).
