gas gauge

so my gas gauge just decided it likes to be at 1/4 tank. i fill it up and it will read full, then by 50 miles it is below 1/2. then it hits 1/4 and stops. i saw a thread about it, but never saw any results on the fix. would sure appreciate any help.

Lucas upper cylinder lube for about 3 tanks will help some.. I never got a good fix either.. (it lubricates the sending unit)

Changing the sending unit would probably fix it but for how long:confused:

Does your gauge fall to empty before you run out?

Does your fuel lite come on when on E?

i have only filled up once since it started doing it, and the stupid pump would shut off every two gallons or so. so i was not sure if i was full, or if it was the pump. now i want to drive it as low as i can but don't want to run out of gass. i'd just throw a gas can on and drive around till she stops, but hate to be seen filling up on the side of the road in my new vx. i'll have to wait till i can get out of town first.:o
