Ok my car started to run hot so i brought it to a mechanic and figured it cant cost more than $80 for a radiator flush and thermostat right? WRONG it is costing $325. he said the intake manifold has to come apart to get to the thermostat. I called st charles and they said its like $220 just for the labor!, I changed thermostats in my other cars befor and never delt with anything like this ..

I have 120,000 on the car and have had only a few problems with it so i guess i really cant complain but over $300 for a thermostat i think is redicolus!

just venting

I've had to remove all the bits & pieces from the heads up several times, & you couldn't get me to do it for less than $300.00...:smilewink...:_wrench:

Sad but true. It is a pretty hefty tear down just to change it out. Such a fast easy change, but so much labor involved before and after you actually get to the location. :(

Have a lot of you had to have your thermostat replaced? My truck runs hot in the heat here in stop and go, but it does cool down, never really hot, when it does I turn the AC off.....

Every vehicle has quirks. That be one of ours.

Wasn't there a Jeep model that you had to lift the engine off of the mounts to get to one of the spark plugs???
