My ABS light had been going on and off recently. With twins in the car I wanted to have it checked out, plus I normally baby the VX anyway. Dealer called and relayed ABS module needs to be replaced. $3100?!?!? Thankfully it doesn't impact braking and I've done enough track events to be comfortable with threshold braking so I'm not desperate to get it fixed right now, But dang, that's like a quarter of the vehicle's worth?!
I'm at work so unable to spend time searching forums on this, but anyone else have an issue with this? I've got 94k btw.

Very common issue...

Contact http://www.allhyundaiisuzuparts.com/ ...

They quoted me $100 for an ABS pump...think it even had a warranty...someone also posted something about a rebuilder on ebay...

ok, well it sounds like there's hope with respect to the part. That's good. Anyone have any input on how easy/hard it is for the labour? Is this something a lay person can do or am I still needing the dealer?

Yeah, I've been rolling with the orange ABS light in my dash so long I don't even notice it anymore. Its not something I plan on replacing ever if its more than a couple hundred bucks...

Pretty easy to install but you do have to bleed the entire system (good time to replace the fluid with synthetic). There's a company that rebuilds the units now for a reasonable price (search and you'll find the thread and addy). I plan to have my dead unit rebuilt as a spare.

Just remember to use the proper wrench to break those lines. here is a example. http://www.ecklerschevelle.com/product.asp?pf_id=630158&dept_id=1096&cm_mmc=Froogle-_-Car+Care+%26+Tools+-+Specialty+Tools+-+Brake-_-630158-_-X
Am thinking you really only need a 10mm, but I am guessing

thanks for the help guys, I doubt I will tackle this myself though, if anything, I know now there are options on the abs module,
