View Full Version : New Garage! A place to work when it's cold, or the weather is bad.

Since I know I've got some CV boots to fix, and the weather has already turned on me I figured I needed a place to work.

After a tireless search of about 2 hours ;) I found a shop. It's not ideal but the price was good, and I wanted it quick.

It's 5 miles from my house (15 minutes) and the sheer volume is insane.

12' X 40' with 14' garage door, and about 15' ceilings.

Not idea because I'd prefer it to be half as deep and twice as wide, but it'll do for now. I plan on storing my motorcycles and my dad's ATVs in the back, then shop in the front. (for basic services nothing crazy)

I only have 120v in it, He would have put 220v but the power comes in at the wrong side of the building so It would have cost too much.

Hope it works out ok, It's not heated but I have a nice propane heater, and some good fans (so I don't get asphyxiated, garage partly opened and fans pulling fresh air in) Might try something electric if anyone has suggestions for a 480 square feet, but really tall.

Pretty excited!! I'll post pics after I get my tools, and everything set up.

Looks like there is just enough room on either side for a set of stairs to go up to an elevated area for storage or maybe a huge work bench and lots of tools. Just a thought and it would give a ton of more room.

I was thinking the same thing... I need to take advantage of the vertical space. I figure the first 15 feet will be left open on either side, then tools, work bench etc. then the back ~15' will be storage of motorcycles atv's etc. But I'd like to build a loft, for even more storage above the motorcycles and ATVs since they're only about 5' tall, and the ceiling is about 15' I need to do something there.

Pretty sweet RT...

Color me envious!

I'd suggest making the loft as high as possible, so you can occaisionally drag out the plastic kiddie pool & do some "Alcapulco style" cliff diving when you get bored...:smilewink

HA! That's great... Maybe I could invite the GGW crew out for a shoot, and pool party. ;)

I wish! I don't think it's quite enough room for one :(

But if Unit #1 comes up for lease it's a double bay 40' X 24' Garage. :D now that would be nice. I'd have to have a few friends go in on a unit that size.

I'm going today to get a plan formulated for the space.

Very excited.
