So, I just got done installing new speakers (thanks littlebeast for your install thread), amp (thanks etl for the amp), and a new dash unit. It is one of those units with a screen and I can change backgrounds and splash screen to whatever I want. So I was looking around a came across quite a few forums where users had created some backgrounds with manufactures logos and it made for a nice oem look. I tried my hand at making a couple, and here are the results:

Figured that maybe someone else with one would like to have em, or maybe others would have some better ones to add :smilegray

PS: Anyone know of a good easy-to-use image editor, like paint, for OSX? I ended up making this with powerpoint

Here's mine (attached thumbnails below) for my Kenwood KVT-512 w/ 80GB iPod, XM and NAV.

Pretty basic stuff. The menu buttons are on the right, so image offset to the left. But anytime I'm listening to XM or iPod, the image is covered anyway. Only un-obscured when first firing up.

The second second background didn't look so good, and I never corrected the aspect ratio to properly fit the 7", near letter-boxed ratio'ed screen. I also did another one of simply photographing the side pillar badging, so I can have a Foxfire background. 'Never finished that one.

Both were done with Power Point, as I'm a dumb grunt.

I got the Pioneer AVIC D3... had it since march, just hadn't gotten around to installing it. I would post some pictures of the project, but its not quite finished. Installation location is far from standard (great location from an ergonomic point of view though! :bgwo:) And I just had a massive setback today. I tried to update the maps to the latest version... and now the unit refuses to boot. It just asks for the "appropriate disc." I might have a bricked unit :(

Before I screwed it up though, I tried out my backgrounds. They looked HORRIBLE because of the light flare, I guess the screen is only 256 or 16bit. So I made some new ones that were solid in color, and I moved the logo around for the off-center background.

Here is what it looked like:

and the new background images (one for background, other for splash screen):
