Hi guys, first time posting here and i figured i'd give it a short when my mechanics Analyzer couldn't even read the ABS code the computer is throwing...

My TOD check light comes on intermittently. here's the situation and you guys are probably way more familair than me but as far as i know over 10mph the TOD split is sopposed to be 80% rear 20% front? but when my TOD check light is coming on the gauge is showing 100% rear and not doing the 80/20 split above 10mph. the kicker here is that even though it's showing 100% rear it's not that way at all. it's like it's locked in a 50/50 split and it won't release. and you guys know what that can do your gas mileage or how it feels when you go around a sharp turn 15mph locked in 4WD. any ideas?

Check for excessive tire wear on one end and air pressure. If there is to big of a differance it can cause problems. If its not the easy fix then check the wiring to the sensors, the sensors and the TOD computer.

You need to have matched tire sizes and matched wear, for starters.

The wheels speed sensors tell the ToD (and ABS) what to do, and if one fails, that can mess up the operation, as well as mess up the ABS... if a sensor is failing and indicates that a front wheel as not moving, your ToD will engage the front axle and the ABS will think it has a wheel locked up.

Good luck!!

This is how you easily check the codes in just a few minutes-

This is a wire that you use to jump the #8 terminal with #4 or #5 (GND) at the data port-

Here's a video I made showing the TOD check light flashing the code.
The code is 12 of course, meaning everything is normal.

well i have even tire wear. the check light and the ABS light are intermittent. the ABS light is on more than the check light. so you're saying that if i have a speed sensor (which seems very likely) fail, that could cause my ABS light to showup and my AWD to engage? there is a high possibility that my driversside speed sensor is bad. after i changed the rotors on the front the light came and that side gave me a bit of difficulty putting the hub back on. i'll try what you guys said tonight. thankyou.

do you guys know where i might be able to get a speed sensor for cheap? i just called the dealership and they want $439.00 for a front left speed sensor.

Autozone, Advanced Auto Parts, et al should have something for you. Also try Merlin at St Charles Isuzu (I'm looking for his number right now). Often times, these parts are made by a parts supplier and available more cheaply, especially now that parts at Isuzu shops are getting stupid-expensive.

advance had nothing... autozone had nothing. i'm gonna try what deermagnet posted today. hopefully it will not be working when i go to do that.

first code check on the TOD i threw a:
16
21
24
27

cleared the codes and started the vehicle then it threw a:
24 (Rear Speed Sensor)

on the ABS side it threw a:
43 (FR Holding Solenoid Valve)

any ideas guys?

Sounds like the speed sensor has failed. Find the rears sensor(s) and check for anything unplugged first. If nothing is obviously wrong, I'd replace the speed sensor (is there one or two on the rear?) and see if that makes the ABS fault clear.
