View Full Version : Manifold Problems
Anyone else have to replace an Exhaust Manifold? Mine took a dump at 24,000. Naturally it will be 3-5 days for a replacement. Way to hold up my PV installation!

What went wrong with your manifold? Just curious if I need to look for something. Mine has 66K miles on it... no problems since I've had it... but who knows what had been done to it before I got it.

Stupid question... as I haven't paid much attention, but do our VX's have a cast manifold or a tube header? Where are they breaking? No idea of whats causing it? If anyone has more info, I'd like to know so I can check mine out before I make another cross-country road trip. I may be driving out to Yellowstone in August to pick my son up from my out-laws (ex-in-laws).

I never mistreat my car, I'm just as gentle as can be and mine broke as well.
....not the actual exhaust manifold but afterwards the flange/downpipe (corrections?)

Spent a good three hours with my buddy at his shop takin out that section of pipe (with the cat and two O2 sensors) and patching it back up.

Very happy that im not sounding like a V8 with no muffler any more ;Db; ...x
!And thats clay, sand, mud ect. bakin on there ;Db; not rust lol
MOST IMPORTANTLY...you can see that there is NO flex pipe on the side of the exhaust!?! The driver side piping has a flex pipe but the passenger side doest! WTf? Can we say set up? After any few respectable off roadin adventure its bound to crack*
*ok i drive hard and off road harder....x :rolleyes:

Cracked exhaust manifold! sounds like F150 type of a problem. Time to put on pair of headers.

Ive had that problem too. Pass. side 3 bolt manifold flange. We added the flex pipe, and welded it back up. I think it should be covered under exhaust/emmissions warranty. Because if that fails then so does the cat. which falls under emmissions warr.
