Hey everyone, Im a newby here, and have simple question. Has anyone ever gone to 15" rim, and off-road hweel combo? What is the widest, biggest diameter rim I can run. I sam a picture on the boards of "johns awesome VX" that looked like it had 18's on it. Would love to get the rim size and offset, not to mention tire size. Thanks for the info...looking forward to joining the Chicago VXers on their next jaunt.

Not sure of the pics that you are mentioning but the 2000+ VX's come stock with 18" rims.. There are some that have gone with 20" too.. I'm sure they'll pitch in soon.

Another on the map for St. Charles! Welcome to the board!:D
I think some have used a 15" rim but not sure. IIRC there is interference with the calipers.

I downsized to 16x10.5 Eagle commets and am running 31x11.5 Mickey Thompson Baja Belted tires. It required minor trimming.

I downsized from the stock 18s to a set of black steel 16s. Yokohama Geolander 265/70/16. Overall 0.5" taller than stock to keep the gearing relatively close to stock since there are no direct replacement aftermarket gears... I wouldn't go to big on tires.

As for offset... do a search on wheel offset and you're bound to turn up lots of good postings from the past.

I noticed a while back that Tone ran the following combination at Moab:

29x10.50x15 TrXus STS All Terrain Radials on 15x7 (3.75” offset) American Racing wheels.

He said no trimming or alterations were needed.

Hope this helps.

29 inch overall diameter is actually a little shorter than stock. Stock is very close to 30 inches.

I actually went with black 15x8 rims for the Moab trip, with 31x10.5x15 BFG tires. I love the look, had to take the sawzall to the front and rear of the front fenders though! I get many more looks than with the stock 18" chrome, so I am not sure I will put them back on!
