Not sure you'll find exactly what you need here, but worth a look...:_wrench:

I'm not familiar with the term 'cold brake wire'. What is it?

Just a shot in the dark...but I took it to mean not hot, or possibly ground?

That's what my thought was as well so any 'good' ground would work. When I put in my trailer lights, a good ground was hard to find back at the tail lights.

I took the question to mean he was wiring up brakes on the trailer, i.e the trailor had breaks.....guess not lol

I assume he is adding wiring for an electric brake system for trailer. I haven't dealt with one of those in decades. Back then, it was much more involved: tapping in to master cylendar, control module in cabin, wiring to rear of vehicle. Then when you got it all perfect - still didn't work worth a damn.

here is how it works basically the trailer has breaks and it gives you the ability to break the trailer manually so you won't jacknife in case of emergency

oh yeah and the cold break wire is the wire that activates whan you push on break if you attach to hot break wire it will just break the trailer all the time as its getting live power

If I'm understanding things correctly, the cold brake wire is basically the brake light wire (12V when pressing on brake, 0V when not pressing brake) but you want to access it either in the cabin or under the hood rather than running a wire all the way from the tail light up to where you are mounting the control box. Is this correct?

Have you looked in the download section? There is an electrical troubleshooting document posted there. Look on page 110-8 & see if that gets you what you need.

yes the "the cold brake wire is basically the brake light wire (12V when pressing on brake, 0V when not pressing brake"

need to access wire in the cabin as control box is in cabin as well

Go ahead and look in the Electrical Troubleshoot Guide & see if you can find what you need. Here's a link.
