For all you weathered off roaders,
i have a mounting bracket just below my grill for 2 spotlamps. Now.... do i go 4", 6", or 8" ?? and flood lamps or spot lamps?
Personally i'm thiking 2, 6" flood lamps to wire up to the headlight switch.
Also, any reasonably priced lights you can recomend ??

I think you are pretty close to the mark, but personally I would stay away from 8" lamps at least at that location. They would ugly up the VX pretty bad right there in the front. As far as brands, you aren't likely to get mainstream names for real cheap, but one thing I recommend is getting a cheap light assembly and then getting HID upgrades. The HIDs throw out more light than you'll know what to do with. I run 4 5" brand x lights across the top of mine with normal bulbs and they do fine, but you could run 1 HID and have more light than all 4. The HID bulb system you are looking for is an H3 I believe. I would do something like this:
Lamp setup:

then replace the bulbs with these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HID-Conversion-Kit-Xenon-H1-H4-H7-9006-H11-H3-9007-9004_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a317Q7c66Q3a2 Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3 a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem 130284452733QQitemZ130284452733QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5 fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
So then for $70 your done and have a superior system. These lights have been one mine for close to two years now and have no rust or pitting or peeling. They work great. They just don't say Hella or Piaa or KC, but then again thats why they sell stickers:rolleyes:

I agree with Ascinder on the size issue. Take a look at my VX, those lights I have up top are 8" Hella Ralleye 4000s. They are BIG and would look pretty awkward up front. So I would definitely go smaller, and HIDs are a good idea. Someone makes an HID ballast replacement for the Ralleye 4000s which I will eventually buy for mine, so I can turn night into day with ease. :)

Great Ideas, thanks alot guys!!!!
I also think an 8" would look too much and a 4" just isnt 'ORW' ;) enough for me.
What 'type' bulbs are in the diped main beams?? Might try a quote for HID in the two spot lamps and two dipped beams, having both on together would be like day break, lol

Our main headlights are H4 bulbs. I think the same guy that sells those H3 bulbs sells H4s too. The thing to remember is that your main headlights have highbeams and lows, and the kits for those cost more. I am running single beam(no high or low) right now and it kind of sucks. They are plenty bright, but having working highbeams would be nice.

Did you see that Harbor Freight sells offroad HID lights? Here's their link. (http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=95059) Of course, they're 9" lamps, which makes them more than a little large... Anyway, I was tempted to pick up a pair just to play with them. I have no idea if they're worth anything...
