Is it better or does not matter?

hey all, i was just wondering, well cuz i'm doing the car exhoust project rightnow, and i need a to start prepping my VX for when i move back to Costa Rica, I'm going to have to put in a Snorkel, so does it mean i have to have the exhoust up hi too, or does not matter,or is there some kind of check valve you install in the exhoust so water does not go in the exhoust pipe? just wondering cuz i'm going to install a snorkle and there's no use to it if water comes inside from the rear. so what do i need to do here?

im no expert, but i believe that as long as the motor doesnt shut off it shouldnt be an issue...

basically, even if you get stuck in deep water, keep those RPM's up high, otherwise your going to have a seized motor...
