Quick question:

I want to replace the stock rims and tires for something more aggresive.
What do I have to do to the Computer to change the diameter of the new tires?

Please advise.

Thanks!!

in order to keep the speedo right??

i believe its actually a gear you have to change inside the tranny...
thats what i was told by a shop, when i asked them how to fix my speedo (now i just remember that my speedo is 2mph under what its actually going)

What about the TOD? Anything to worry about there?

Hi dean welcome !

About the TOD i don't think at all any thing needs to be done there, actually i'll never ever play with the idea of doing any mods with the TOD.

I just upgrade my VX with new shoes. with hankook tires & 20" rims man yesterday here in NYC 12" of snow were falling & my new tires handled that perfectly.

There's a excelent thread where you can look at all the VX's that have upgraded wheels, the thread is "POST ALL RIMES & TIRES".

If you still wondering what to install probably that thread will provide you with some light.

Good luck & welcome ;)

As long as all your tires are the same size , with even tread wear....

....you'll be fine.

If your tires are bigger (taller) or smaller (short) it is a simple mathematical computation. If you have a scan gauge installed, the formula is in the manual and then you can program then scan gauge to read your mph accurately. Of course you will have to add the differential in when figure mpg and servicing intervals. Hope that helps:)

I'll add one thing...(just to stay ahead of Bart & Skippy)

With larger wheels & tires (33-12.50x20" or 285/75x16", both pretty close to 33" dia) it's not unusual for the TOD to "light up" under hard acceleration, even under grippy traction conditions.
Dunno exactly what causes it to freak, other than the dia being WAY outta spec, but I no longer worry much about it...:smilewink
