Last night I was cleaning the VX for a trip home to Waco to see my family and I decided to do a few of the VX mods I have sitting in the garage to do. I replaced the door seal on my passenger side, removed the front license plate and installed the plastic Isuzu piece, and then I installed the headlight covers that took forever to be delivered. I still need to do the rear brake light flasher, amp+sub, and the diff drop, maybe next weekend, haha.

Ok so I am not sure about the headlight covers.

Headlight cover Positives:
-look mean
-make the VX look even more like a snake
-blend well with the blacked out look of the VX
-protect the headlights from the abuse of the sun during the day
-protect the headlights from rocks and the like
-remove and install in about 5 seconds flat with no tools at all

Headlight cover Negatives:
-they are totally not street legal
-would never do night driving with them on (not safe, too dim)
-obstructs the reflective surface of our headlights (which ties into other chrome surfaces, like the tow hooks, fangs, wheels, muffler tip)
-makes the VX look almost too much like a snake, lol

So here are the photos, decide for yourself, for now I am only doing a little daytime driving with them on trying to decide what I think, I will definitely leave them on if I ever have to leave the VX parked outside for any length of time. Here are some various photos to show the different looks:

At first, I didn't like the headlight covers much. Now, after looking at them in the pictures they kinda grew on me. I'm not sure I would keep them on all the time, but a little different look every now and then is always good for a healthy marriage.
Peace.

My same comment. Do you drive at night with dark sunglasses on? Then why put them on your headlights

LOL, wow I can always count on LBud for a surprizing and original responce, haha, yeah that would be pretty funny looking.

Uh, yeah I would NEVER drive at night with these on, period. I stated that above the photos :) Good thing they snap on and off in a few seconds.

Sorry guys but i got to disagreed with you on this one.

I bought the covers & use them 24/7 other wise it make no sense at all to pay & wait to have them on the VX.

However every opinion is respected & welcome :)

I LOVE IT! I've got the same look on mine (headlights/no plate)... Now I can see what it's going to look like with a lift and meats! Nice!!!

BTW... the part about the covers "protecting" the headlights is not 100%true... They actually damage/scuff them up after a while. You can put the "loop" side of a velcro strip in strategic places on the underside to help avoid this.

Looks AWESOME! :yes::thumbup::clap:

so what are you doing with the front plate then?

it looks good.. i want to get rid of my front plate.. but md requires it... although.. i drive around in pa 99% of the time anyway... hmmm

anyway looks real sweet w/ the headlight covers too.. looks like a real pissed off giant bug! with them off it looks like a friendly giant..lol

Careful on the plate Ryan. You have the same setup I did until Pct 5 popped me about a month ago. Let me go (professional courtesy perhaps) but that ticket can get expensive. I switched to putting the plate back on.

I've lived in Dallas for 20 years with NO plates on front.(I hate the look)No cop has ever said a thing.
I did get pulled over,in the middle of nowhere,by a sheriff on the way back from Moab. He must have been bored.

I have never run the front plate either......I act stupid when pulled over, only once did DPS pull onto shoulder, let me pass, only to get behind me and pull me over for that alone! Warning is all I got......they did make me get out of the vehicle and stand in the ditch due to the weapon.......LOL

Knock on wood!! The state was going to drop the front plate law a couple of years ago.It would save the state millons of $.I guess they changed their mind.

Mean looking ride there man.

I like the light covers on the ebony VX, not sure I would like it on any other colour.
And by all means, take them off at night.

Damn, wish I could but those tyres in Aussie.
They look mean.

LITTLEBEAST--- Hmmm, I actually like it WITHOUT the headlight covers. With them on, it makes it look like the snake is sleeping with its eyes closed. The bare headlights make it look like it's wide awake; lookin' at 'ya and ready to attack!!!

Regarding the license plate-- I would re-install the plate with a "smoked-colored" license plate cover.

So; there you go-- bare headlights & smoked license plate cover is my vote.

Since most of the states are looking foward to reduce their budgets one suggestion is to get rid of damn front license plates non-sense.

Florida is one of those states that mean saving huge $$$$ by prividing only one plate & if it had worked over there without any issues, why in the hell's name shouldn't work for the rest of the union.

The front license plate holder shall be left for the driver to place there a nice personal plate such as the VX plate

How do these headlight covers install? I got a set of CF ones, but the one page installation sheet was vague. They have tabs at the top and bottom and they just snap in?

I don't own a pair, but I'm sure it's just a snap on deal.

Well, on YOUR VX I think they look pretty bad-***. I actually like them on. Only if they are truly that easy to pop on and off though. I used to have them on my old pickup and would up taking them off because it was such a pain at night.

That is definitely one of the best looking beasties around. How much redneck mating call you get at speed with those tires? They look amazing, but I just can't imagine them being practical if you're driving mostly street.

good stuff.
