When...March 28 1p.m.
Where...Perrys
I will once again going to be down on Coronado for the Superfrog triathlon. I will be arriving Sat. March 28 and racing on the 29th.
So, who is up for some eats on the 28th?
I did a search of restraunts on the island and it looks like there is a ton of places. I will probably be a little shorter on time this year but still want to get together...so who is in?
We can work out the time and place.

Jo thanks for the offer. We are staying at the Coronado Island Inn. It is only 5minutes from the race...convinient and I can sleep in a little (still gotta get up early but every bit of sleep helps!).

Anyway I wanted to talk to you Billy about Cycling which I am very much into.

Cool, will be nice to meet some new faces and see everyone from last year! Haven't decided on a place yet. Want to keep it close to Coronado or better yet on Coronado. I have searched and it looks like there is a lot of eating places there. I was thinking a 4 PM time (late lunch/early dinner). Will that work for everyone. I will probably getting there around noon but have to pick up my race packet on the island and check into the hotel.

Billy, there's an awesome Mexican place right on the main drag there in Coronado...not sure if that's good or not before a triathlon.:_thinking

Gaslamp (Downtown (San Diego)) is only about a 15 minute trek to Coronado and would offer way more options, including Buco Di Beppo if you'll want pasta.
Also, parking would probably actually be easier for a group of us--we could probably stage up on the rooftop level of the Horton Plaza parking structure, which might even offer something of a photo opp. Restaurants are scattered within blocks of it (BDB is about 3 away), and parking is free for 3 hours.

Just brainstormin'...

I could get us on the Marine Corps Recruit Depot. It is where they hoast the Rock n Roll Marathon. Not too much to do there on the weekend, but you could check it out and there are good spots to take photos.

This seems like a pretty good idea. Then we can hit up the suggested eats or decide on something else around there.?????????????????????????????????
Of course I will require some pretty good directions to where ever we decide since I tend to get lost easily!

Only one week to go! Any more idea's? Lets get some final plans down (for all those VXers lurking and just waiting to get in on the plans)!

I just sold my VX on Saturday. :_crying: I didn't think it would sell before the meet, but it did. The new owner is local, seems pretty cool, and I informed him about the site and this week's meet. I may still come...but not in nearly as cool of vehicle.

Triathlete
03/23/2009, 10:04 AM
You are of course still welcome to join in the eats. Didn't even know you were trying to sale your VX...what have you replaced it with?

MashyMan
03/23/2009, 11:03 AM
I have a couple other cars to drive but a VX can never be...replaced. Except maybe by another VX. I'd buy one again. I just need the RIGHT one to cross my path. One with low miles and cool mods...a simulacrum of Jo's.

JoFotoz

I'm drawing a blank on a good eatery on Coronado Island that has parking.

Lots of choices...but parking together will be REALLY hard.
We could all meet at the Ferry landing and see if we get lucky ....but saturday PM is busy .

Hey Billy...is Pasta "required"...?

If not...this place may be cool....and Its got parking.

Jo,
Pasta is not manditory but burgers are not the best pre race meal...especially for a 1/2 Ironman!

Come on all you SDers ...brainstorm!

Billy...is 4:00pm set in stone for you?

If we could meet at 1;45.....

...we could go to Perrys , which is a great diner with huge parking..

...and handy for those coming from the North....and easy for everyone else too.

They stop taking people at 2:00!

I could probably get there by 2. How far is this from the island? I HAVE to pick up my packet at the Loews resort on Coronado before anything else plus check into my hotel. After that I am pretty flexable.

Okay, lets do Perrys. Lets say we meet there between 1:00 and 1:15 so we have a bit of time.
See you all there.

Solitude, I will be leaving Tucson about 3:00 A.M. so I get there with enough time to get my race stuff and check in to my hotel. If you want to get an early start and meet me along the way let me know. I will be heading from the 10 to the 8 and then straight on in!
