A not so recent picture (taken last spring at the Outer Banks in North Carolina). Since then I've added the Tone hitch, door popper, passenger seat extension, and a custom cage wall / bed for my dog in the cargo area. Working with tom4bren next week to install a set of black Luverne step bars. :bwgy:

Hey Mike, we should get together sometime this fall when I'm in Blacksburg for a football game. Could be cool to tailgate with a couple VX's.

Edit: Mileage is right around 38K.

The only way I've figured out how to post pics in body of a post is to FIRST add (upload) the pic to "my gallery".

After you do that, then when composing the new post,
click on the word "[Open]" to the RIGHT of the window you're typing in, where it says "My Pics".

This brings up my gallery of pictures and you just click ONCE on the pic you want and it immediately inserts the URL gobbly gook. Then hit preview it will show you the picture.

Also, at the top right area, it lets you pick the SIZE of the picture you're inserting in the post. I used "original" and it makes it large like my post I just did.

Hope this helps.

No doubt, it's nice today so maybe I can take a few pics and get them up tonight, although I'd rather wait for the weekend when I can spend the time to polish the cladding to match the bars. Right now I have a nice two-tone lower body. :)

Oh and btw, something started rattling on the passenger side Tuesday night. I'm going to get up under it tonight and see what I can find. Given that vague description do you have any ideas on what to look for?

tom4bren
04/09/2009, 11:12 AM
Something loose???

If you can't find it by next weekend, call I'll stop by whilst down that way (although Wifey will never forgive me since it's supposed to be a romantic getaway weekend:))

Hopefully that won't be necessary - I don't want you to have to take a bullet for me!

It's a beautiful day outside so I'm going to slip out a little early and play with it this afternoon. I noticed that the carpet bucked up a little near the passenger's side kickplate, so maybe the bolt under it is just a little loose. When I asked Tone for installation tips he recommended retightening the bolts after a few days, so maybe that's all that's required.

We'll see...

tom4bren
04/09/2009, 12:45 PM
First thing to check would be the metal splash guard I cut to make it fit. It may help to schlep some RTV on it where it meets the bracket for the NERF.

vt_maverick
04/09/2009, 10:27 PM
I decided to try some good old fashioned WD-40 tonight after work, and at least for now it seems to have fixed the problem. The creeking/vibration seemed to be coming from the area where the bracket contacts the body bolt, so I just doused that area and called it a night.

We'll see how long it lasts. If WD-40 isn't the long-term solution, I'll try silicone spray next and then work up to RTV. Thanks again for the suggestions Tom!

VehiGAZ

You can also get white lithium grease in a spray. It will stick around a LOT longer than WD-40.

I have a theory that the of 210 Foxfires in the US, we keepers are the most actively connected via this forum than any other exterior color, by percentage. In fact, that's a challenge I'm throwing down to other external color bearers. Until then, I consider it a fact: Foxfire owners are the most active/connected on this forum. :bgwo:

I welcome all new Foxfire members; vt_maverick and VX CAT are our Foxfire spiritual leaders. I bow to their expertise. :yesgray:

Hey Bren, good to hear from you! Staying warm in this rough winter I hope?

I think I ran the numbers awhile back and found that there was a higher percentage of Proton owners registered on this site vs. the other colors. But as I noted on another thread, a certain portion of those members were all registering the same VX, so it gets difficult to count. I can tell you that around 80 unique Foxfire VINs have registered on this site at one time or another, so that's a pretty high percentage. How it compares is difficult to tell since it would take so long to uniquely ID VX's with higher production counts (Proton is nearly twice as many, and obviously Ebony/Astral are much, much, more).

I suppose you could define "active" by total post count by color, but I'm pretty sure that tom4bren has KAT and I beat by himself. Hmmm... give me some time and I'll find a statistic to support your argument. :)

Good to hear from you!

I didn't know he sold the one, that's got to be frustrating.
When I found a set of nice black/gray leather seats, I sold him my original (black/gray leather) seats from my Foxfire as his originals were just totally thrashed, like a dog chewed them up.
