At first I was confused, I was thinkin "Why the hell would you put that in your car?!" But then I saw it was for show, so that makes more sense, not a whole lot of offroading goin on, plus the extra 500lbs in weight in the back must be horrible for gas mileage:) I dig the 8"? molds for the front.

Was it Rickster who turned his entire VX into an isobaric speaker box, haha? The entire rear, front seats back, was nothing but wire, coils, insulation, and db to boot. Wasn't his VX purchased and sent overseas?

dude...well done..
i work at best buy installing car audio stuff and we have a 'autotech' forum for all best buys..
cracked me up the other day i was reading through it and i see a thread titled
aztec on steroids with bass-
all the autotechs nation wide were talkin about your build
however, there are so many guys on there that by the time i got on and saw what was going on there was so much VX bashing that i could barely deal with it...
one of em asked wth is a vehicross??
and another said, 'people actually bought those things? i thought they were just made for show'
oh, and i got a 'i bet that thing has a horrible center of balance and turning radius'
so i politely chimed in with-
some pics of me wheelin (kindly taken by jo last year on metal masher)
and gave them some facts including the wins at paris DAKAR 3 years in a row in its class ;)
shut em up pretty quick about how much there is no way it could wheel

Yup- His will always be the one by which all others are judged. I've never been in a room with as many audio trophies as that ride had produced.
I remember him turning the volume control to somewhere around 5 or 6 and watching the front window bow outward. Amazing ride.
There are still some of the truck's history (& nice bikini shots) in the "Show Pictures" at this site- scroll down to watch the VX transformations over the years

And I do believe it ended up in Russia

I've always thought that the VX would make one of the best audio competition vehicles, because it's got the exterior to match the interior...
Nice work! I'm a big fan of lots of small subs, or just one REALLY big one (>18"), but nothing in between...

i just lifted the vx a because of the weight of the box. but now my 22's tires look small
was thinking of getting these
http://i16.ebayimg.com/01/i/001/14/9b/c80a_3.JPG
do you think the 35's will fit or is max only 33
all i did was install the 912's and cranked the hell out of the torsion bar.

I was planning on putting 35's on as soon as I need a new set of tires. Yes you can fit the 35's on there, there are a few things you will need to do to get them to fit:
-2" spacers from Independent4x
-Trim back of front wheel wells quite a bit
-Hammer in metal on the back of the front wheel wells quite a bit more
-Crank torsion bars a little more
Not necessary but highly recommended:
-Diff drop brackets to help your poor CV's out
-Higher gears 4.78 or 5.38 in the diffs
Oh and someone already has those rims and tires on their VX, name is: jwatk1ns

Well done, people usually are afraid when they face the "unkown" by speculating
By the way,it seems we got few audio geeks in here (including my self) so from time to time we shall get into the chat room & share some words

I would think a couple inches of body lift might help fit 35's also...:_confused

Yeah very true and probably necessary for 36"+ tires but I think we might be able to get away with 35's and no body lift. I will tell you for sure as soon as my current 33's need replacing ;)

WOOHOO!!!!! I already have the 4.78's in but with 35's I am thinking 5.38's would be great too are you planning on swapping gears? Did you already drop the diffs I don't remember?
