2009 Tone/MOAB Memorial t-shirt

I have recently started working part time at a design company that manufactures custom t-shirts and anything related to custom printing so I have talked to Scott about making the t-shirts and decals to honor our late friend and fellow VXer Tone.

We already had great ideas thrown around on the other thread and I want to continue that here, I will post the art work before we go to print of course to get everyone's feedback on both the t-shirt and the decal. As far as the decal goes I think I will just simply give what Scott already did to the art guys and see if they can just "clean it up" a little and make it stand out a bit more.

For the t-shirt I need from all of you:
-t shirt color suggestions
-printed image color suggestions
-images (photos of Tone's VX and Benz in action)
-phrases from Tone (i.e. "VX gives you wings")
-rough estimate of quantity and sizing
-any artwork ideas

T-shirt plans so far: I think everyone likes the "tone" volume knob from the other thread so I need Mark (MSHardeman) to send me the original "tone" volume knob photo (as large as possible) and then we can put a number 11 on there.

I am thinking of the tone volume knob on the back with a phrase or simple logo which would include something like "2009 Moab honors Tone Monday, 1961-2009" or "Tone, you will never be forgotten", something very simple, or nothing at all just the image.

On the front I was thinking about "Moab 2009 VX run honoring Tone Monday 1961-2009" being the only easily legible print not too large starting in the upper left hand corner of the front of the shirt. Then as a background slightly going to the right of the shirt and going down the left hand side of the front of the shirt I want some shots of Tone's vehicles (VX and Benz) in action, these images would either be faded out slightly or simply outlined lightly. Then in the background tying it all together I want some not so legible phrases like "VX gives you wings" "stop talking about it, and actually do it" and other Tone phrases to once again not be bold but just used as a background to tie it all together.

As far as price it will heavily depend on artwork/style etc, but ballpark what I was thinking was at or under $10 a shirt and free t-shirts to Lisa and Tone's family. All suggestions welcome.

I know black will be almost unbearable in Moab, but since both the VX and the Benz where black (plus I saw Tone wear a lot of black t-shirts) I would agree with dub that the shirt should be black. I also like the idea of the wording on the sleeve, but I would shy away from a picture of Tone, or any picture that's too elaborate. Something nice and simple.

That's my two cents, but however it ends up I would be down for a couple of shirts (and stickers).

I have a lot of shots of Tone and the Benz on Lions Back. I can show them when we're hanging out on "The Porch", or I can post some up for use on the shirt if everyone else would like a picture.

Ryan, this is awesome!! I am so happy you are doing this, I think black but not sure how well the black trucks would show up on that, so I would think grey to make the pics stand out better.....and instead of 'vx gives you wings' I think we should put on there something he said "stop thinking about it, and just do it!" LOL

I'll be bringing and giving out the stickers in Moab, then I'll get a count from those that want them after that. I'll set up a different system for them as I don't want to rape this thread..

Once again these are just my own personal rough sketches that I will give to the art department and then they will come up with the final product on the computer, I just like giving them something to go by. Let me know what you think.

Kudos for spear-heading this.

My only suggestion would be that the major art work goes on the back of the T-shirt...

...and the "Tone" dial goes on the front left chest with 1961-2009 under.

Ryan, it's looking great, but I would tend to err on the side of simplicity. Maybe just the "Stop talking about it and do it" quote with the dates below that on the front pocket area with the tone knob (with an 11 photoshopped in) on the back with "VX gives you wings" below it. Clean, simple, respectful.

That's just my opinion....and you know what they say about those.;)

RYAN--- Here's an idea for the tone volume knob on the back underneath to say: "Tonal Range: 1961--2009" Perhaps another idea is to put "1961" and "2009" on the tone volume knob itself to represent the total range on the knob.

Alright I have t-shirts ordered for LDub, VXCrazy, MSHardeman, Marlin, CrnCnn, JoFotz, Moncha, Scott Harness, Jay Dunford, Merlin, and John Monday.

Price: $10 per shirt, you can mail me a check, give Lisa cash/check at Moab to give to me, or paypal, or whatever you want.

Also if anyone wants to donate a little more than $10 per shirt to the t-shirt fund I would like to give Merlin, Lisa, and John Monday (Tone's brother) all free t-shirts so I will gladly cover those myself if no one else wants to share the cost with me, just giving you a heads up on the opportunity. John has offered to pay for the shirts he wanted, but I would much rather it be a gift from us, and I will hand deliver his shirts, mail some out to those not at Moab, and give Lisa a box full of all of the other shirts to hand out in Moab, thanks everyone.

1st off thank you Jay so much for your help passing stuff out in Moab, really appreciate it man! If there is a next order we would have to do probably at least a run of 20 or so, and I would like to print on a darker gray shirt almost charcoal like, and print the yellow on top of the black print to bring the yellow out more. I need to gauge interest in another order 1st though so please let me know a number and size as soon as you decide thanks :)
