I joined the ranks of VX owners last week when I picked up a 2001 Kaiser with 35K miles. It seems to be in pretty good shape and of course I started mod'd it right away!

Here's some before pics.......

And here some after shots.......

I went with 2" spacers in rear and 8 turns on the t-bars up front. The wheels are 17x9 +25 offset and the tires are 285-70-17 (33 x 11.50) Terra Dune Grapplers.

Welcome Rubicool! That's a nice Kaiser you got there, and only 35k on it. Good find! I like the all black wheels, look’s like you did your research. It’s giving that jeep liberty an inferiority complex.:p

Welcome to the addiction. I know there will be MANY happy turns to the wrench in the near future.

BTW - nice ride (even if you did get the wrong color:))

Hi and welcome to a very proud international "owner's club". The more you put into the forum the more you'll get out of it.

You bought THAT VX?!?!?! You should have bought mine! ;-)

J/K - nice job finding such a low-mileage example, Rubicool!

I just did my first road trip with the new lift/tires and was quite surprised at the mileage I got. When I bought this VX I had a 14 hour drive home and got 22mpg with the stock wheels/tires and I thought putting 33's on it would drop me down to 13-15 mpg but I just did a 400+ mile trip and got 18mpg!!! That was a pleasant surprise!

Next mods will be audio related......trying to decide what I want to do. I want GPS/Sirius and I'm leaning towards a Pioneer head unit.

actually, your math is backwards...larger diameter= less revolutions, meaning you are not registering all of the miles travelled. I have 275-75 16's and my speedo is of by 10%, making more like 20mpg:nuke:

Is it really 10% for 265-75-16's?

In any case you're really lucky if you're getting that kind of mileage... I got about 20-22 when I picked mine up stock, and get ~16 with 33X12.5 :) and that's on a good day.
